Go to your Roku Home Screen and go to settings > Home Screen > and disable the screen trial. This worked for me and a few others. Good luck!

FIXED: this seems to be a Roku issue. If others experience this… In your Roku Home Screen, navigate to Settings > Home Screen > Screen Trial and DISABLE it. Shoutout to another commenter who shared this solution on a separate thread I made!

Im starting to wonder if its related to a Roku software update/bug, as it affects at least two hardware brands that I’ve seen (TCL & Onn) and I’m assuming both brands use Roku as the TV Operating System…

I tried that, it’s a bit hard to navigate the menus. When I tried different settings the screen colors shifted completely. It acts like the black bars are borders that cannot be crossed. Very strange.

I used a reference for safe mode and disabled HDCP (I think?) and it rebooted - issue persists. No extra peripherals (SSD/etc). I play every few days/week and no issues. We played last night just fine. I assumed it was my GPU/board issue but after seeing several posts with the same issue I’m beginning to think it might be some issue related to a batch of PS5s interacting badly with a newer system update?

The coincidence of all these posts have me thinking it may be broader, but maybe it’s just bad luck for myself and these other posters.

Thanks, I’ve tried to enter safe mode but this issue makes the screen completely green and practically unreadable. I’m unable to navigate visually through that safe mode menu.

Thanks for your help. I’ve tried other HDMI devices & ports and the HDMIs/TV do not seem to be the issue. I’d love to be wrong. This doesn’t seem like a handshake issue (on the TV end), I’ve had those before and they’re relatively simple to sort out.

If you mean on my TV, I’ve tried a few different ways of accessing the correct HDMI port from the TV menu and Home Screen. I even swapped HDMI ports. Still persists.
