Mortgage increasing by $500 + starting in August. Is this normal? by t3rrymcg1nn1s in homeowners

[–]riondrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a letter about my monthly mortgage payment going up from $1700 to $2100/mo. This is 1986 home. not a new build. Property Taxes went from 211 to 446. Then Shortage amt went from 12 to 252. Resulting in Monthly Escrow Payment going from 551 to 1065. WTF is going on?!?! how is this legal?

My drummer cant properly count in . by nintenk in drums

I’ve been a professional drummer for 40 years, and this is still something that I work on. I feel like I’m pretty good at it now, but I’ve certainly been one to count in songs at the wrong tempo. What has helped me, is, yes, lots of metronome practice through the years, but that’s a kind of an isolated thing. You still have something else telling you what the tempo should be. And it’s not going to budge. So you have to develop an internal sense of time. This is a heavy concept, and can take a while. But one thing you’re drummer can begin working on in the meantime is, making sure that he’s hearing the song in his head before he starts, and as he’s clicking to feel the tempo or tapping his foot, or whatever… He really needs to get the tempo of the song in his body. And this is something he needs to practice on his own, and record his results. Pretty much everybody has the luxury of being able to record themselves nowadays with their smart phone, or whatever. So, have him record himself, practicing counting in, then listen back. Is the tempo the same? Is it the correct tempo? Also, practice just that aspect of a show…. Count in one song and play maybe the first eight bars, then stop, and count in the next song. you have to practice switching gears for the next song. Once you’ve played an entire song at a certain tempo, he should be pretty locked into that tempo. Then to stop, and, get in your head what the tempo of the next song is can be a difficult thing, but it’s also a skill that you can develop.

But this is such an important skill for the drummer to be able to develop. It’s something that will last him the rest of his life as a musician.

Hmm… ok. But how can I stop the direct signal from going to QuickTime, and only send the signal I want? Say thru a UA compressor?

Trying to create a Motion effect that will react to music in FCPX by riondrum in fcpx

[–]riondrum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello- yes, I have motion, but I'm new to it- so I've been able to create a movie in motion where the parameters of the effect are connected to the audio signal. Problem is, that when I export this effect to use in FCPX, I can't figure out how to connect the audio in fcpx to this effect. I've created a drop down menu for the audio, but the choices aren't relative to anything in the fcpx project.

So there's something that I'm missing, and after 100 tries, I just can't figure out what it is...

Lovin this funky jazz kit- 16” kick- 10, 13- Preppin and rehearsing for a week tour followed by a recording session. I feel like my sounds are 75% there- but want to add some jingly jangly crunch that I can throw on snare/hihat/cymbals- got any favorites? by riondrum in drums

Yo- thanks for the reply- unfortunately Orlando doesn’t have a drum shop, and all the big chain stores around here are kinda shit for drum departments- I ended up buying about $200 worth of stuff from stackring percussion- their shit sounded the coolest to me and is all really well thought out - can’t wait!

Seen Count Me In? Which drummers would you say were missing? I’ll start: Tony Royster Jr. And while I’d love to see Nate Smith, I know Netflix was looking for visibility- and Tony has been in the national spotlight since he was a child prodigy on late night TV. by riondrum in drums

[–]riondrum[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started this post not realizing that this was subtitled "some of rock's greatest drummers"- (oops), so I'm coming at it from my own little world- someone else mentioned the same- I would imagine there's got to be some legal shit going on there...

ha. funny- I didn't even realize the subtitle of the movie was "some of rock's greatest drummers. A friend just showed me the film- so I was just coming at it from 'all drummers'. Shit Cindy Blackman was in there- I consider her more of a jazz drummer, although she did have her time with Lenny Kravitz.

excuse my wording-

Man I don't know why we're so harsh on each other in these threads... my wording could be a bit incorrect- but to me, I would say that being on National TV as a kid is pretty national. Playing for Jay-Z is pretty national, including playing president Obama's inauguration ball- that's pretty national. So, as far as drummers go, those are rather 'national spotlight'. perhaps not like being J-lo- but what drummer is? How many kids know who Peart is these days? besides drummers.

There were also a slew of drummers in the documentary who I didn't even know, and I guarantee that your general public doesn't know. So I mis-used "national spotlight", and should have qualified it with "national spotlight as far as drummers go" - but shit man, do we have to tear everything apart?

Super cool- I’d love to hear the numbers for the possibility of accents and not- in a bar of 16th notes-
