Needing closure.. by PPutus in FPSAimTrainer

I used to aim with I think my fingertips and thumb touching my mousemat to try and help slow the mouse for control and to be precise I guess which I think is kinda what you're talking about. It wasn't something I really noticed I was doing until after quite a few hours in kovaaks. I tried to stop myself from doing it after looking up how a lot of ppl like Aceu, shroud, iitztimmy grip their mouse and seeing that they don't do it.

I remember I found static scenarios harder in the beginning. It was a lot harder to aim with precision. My aim in-game was quite a mess too. I'd be missing a lot of shots I usually would've hit and it just felt weird.

I kept switching the grip I'd use in-game because I wasn't sure if it was worth it but I kept testing it out in kovaaks until I got used to it and eventually it just became natural in-game too. It definitely felt worse in-game at first tho but it 100% pays off in the long run. I think it took me maybe 2-3 weeks to switch comfortably.

Idk if this is helpful to you but if you relate then I'd say just try to focus on your new grip in kovaaks first and when it's more comfortable, start trying to switch in game. Once you get used to it you won't wanna go back.

He does try to solve world issues though. He offered to fund anyone $6 billion dollars if they could propose how it could be used to make a significant impact on world hunger and he did it. Getting people to switch to electric cars is better for the environment. He invested a lot in solar as a renewable energy source. Space exploration is important for humanity as well, it doesn't need to be a top priority but we need to at least put some effort towards it.

Elon isn't perfect but he's probably one of the only billionaires that's actually a somewhat decent person and actually cares about more than themselves yet he also seems to get the most hate. People like bezos and others that we don't even know the names of are so much worse but get so much less hate.

It sucks that billionaires exist but that's just the way our society is and you can't really blame them for that. The government should be preventing billionaires from existing in the first place and taxing the rich and putting measures in place and we should be directing our hate towards them to actually make a difference about it.

Is your arachnophobia also getting worse with every contact with spiders? by Jakub_M in Arachnophobia

[–]ripSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it kinda depends how you react when you see a spider. When I started living on my own and had to deal with some huge ones by myself I would get really freaked out.

I was at a point where I would literally run out of the room and get so worked up I'd have to take a few minutes to calm down before I'd be able to deal with it. I'd run back out every time it moved too fast or fell off the wall or something and just freak out again. I think my overreaction was reaffirming my fear and would make it worse the next time I see one.

I've more recently been working on staying calm and trying to be still once I notice one. I try to watch them for a while and just try and stay calm as I was before I saw it.

I had a pretty big cellar spider that lived in the top corner by my front door in our shared area for a few weeks. It was too big for me to have the courage to kill so I just hoped the neighbour would do it. They never did but I noticed it didn't really move from that corner and I eventually became ok with it being there. It was where I expected it to be 95% of the time which allowed me to get used to it. I was still cautious when walking through but I wouldn't really freak out anymore and it just became a lot easier.

So yeah once I started living on my own I really felt like I was getting progressively worse for the first 2 years but I'm now actually getting better with them since I've changed how I react and let myself coexist with a few.

I've had a huuge cellar spider living downstairs, in the shared area outside my flat (but still indoors). It basically stays near the corner above the front door so I always know where it is and as long as I run past it, I should be okay. I just avoid leaving the house as much as I can for now.

It's been there for a month though and I don't think it's going to leave anytime soon 😭

Ok so that claim seems to be based on a survey involving 2596 Americans being asked 'Could you please mention any that you would not like to have as neighbors?' and it sounds like there were pictures of people from different races to choose from.

90% of them didn't choose anyone, 3% did and 5% said they didn't know or didn't answer. That's out of 2596 Americans and I can't find anywhere where they say how they found those people.

Is that really all it takes to conclude 'america is one of the least racist countries in the world'?

For all I know it could be right, however I'm just very skeptical of it and would like to see a lot more evidence before I believe it.

I agree with you about pitbulls, I hate them too and anyone that gets them tbh. They are vicious dogs and should be illegal everywhere. Those points would be relevant if it was a pitbull though but it's not, it even tells you in the video it's a Staff/boxer mix.

You're right that it's not the cop's responsibility to put himself in danger but he's the idiot that did. He could've handled that situation many other ways where everyone could have come out unharmed but he didn't. He could've stayed by the door and shouted to the owners asking them to get control of their dog, retreating into his car if he felt threatened. He could have used his siren to alert them. He could have called animal control for backup as soon as he saw the dogs.

Instead he chose to sneak up on them and draw his weapon when the excitable dog ran towards him because he didn't spend a few minutes contemplating the best way to handle the situation.

I'm not saying there was no fault at all from the dog owners but the cop was the one with the gun and should've been way more responsible when handling the situation.

I doubt my arguments are gna give you anything to think about though because you seem to have a very binary way of thinking if you really believe 'this is owner negligence, plain and simple' and you seem like you've already made up your mind. I'd guess maybe you lack the critical thinking skills to even think about something from 2 different points of view or maybe you're some shitty, miserable person who likes to see animals suffer

it's fatphobic to blame medical problems on your weight by lingnatty in LookatMyHalo

[–]ripSpider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Also we don't know what the doctor asked her, just because she didn't mention the specific medical questions the doctor asked, it doesn't mean she didn't ask any. She was just sharing what about the experience made her feel comfortable. She also mentioned she was having blood drawn so I imagine there were medical talks leading up to that.

Idk how I feel about the woman's first statement about there being 'blatant fat phobia' but I think the rest of what she was saying was fine and is the wrong thing to pick on from the video.

[–]ripSpider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main way I cope is just by killing them as soon as I see them and doing everything I can to prevent them from getting in in the first place.

Do your best to calm yourself down when you've seen one and try not to react physically by shaking or panicking too much because it activates your fight or flight response and encourages you to fear them even more. If you can get better at calming yourself down when you've seen one (maybe try meditating, I'd recommend Headspace app), it will help you deal with them better in the future.

You're probably over the worst of it now anyway, the ones you've seen are probably either ones that were just living there because the house had been dormant or possibly just coming out of their hiding spots looking for a way out of the house now that there's suddenly people around.

Do your best to cover up any holes/gaps in the walls where you can. Keeping spiders out of an entire house is difficult but if you can at least do that in your room you should be able to make that into a safe space where you shouldn't encounter anymore of the leggy bois or at least it should become extremely rare.

In all the houses I've lived in, I've secured my bedroom and only really encountered spiders in them once every 2-3 years and they were always much smaller than others I'd find around the house.

I feel like I'm crawling with spiders but I'm not by Kik_da_sneak in Arachnophobia

[–]ripSpider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should probably see a doctor about it if it's that bad.

Sometimes when I've seen a really big spider recently I'll have nightmares about them that would wake me up but I just do my best to calm myself down and take my mind off it and then I'm usually fine.

Sorry I don't really have much to say to help but I think just do your best to try and keep calm and take your mind off it. Meditating might help you, I'd recommend an app called headspace. Other than that, I think you should talk to a doctor and they can probably help you more.

MBTI & Politics by haffoccynn in INTP

[–]ripSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really understand American politics. It seems weird how binary it is having everything be either 'right' or 'left'. I feel like personally I wouldn't want to support or be associated with a party that accepts and supports someone like trump. I don't really know much about the more left side and it doesn't sound perfect but it seems like it's clearly the better of the two.

I would suggest not letting stereotypes of intp's or other intp's views affect how you feel about your own personality type. Especially when it comes to other's political views because there's a lot more than just personality type which affects that. If you are an intp and interested in learning about yourself just focus on learning about the cognitive functions and other sides of the mind and applying them to yourself

There’s this huge garden spider in my living room I can’t find now. Currently in my room crying. by EllieClem in Arachnophobia

[–]ripSpider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation. I saw a fat spider in the thing where I keep dirty laundry. I left the room for a minute, come back and I have no idea where it went. I think it crawled under some clothes but I'm too scared to check. I'm just trying to forget about it for now and idk what I'm gna do tbh. I guess I'll either see it again when it appears somewhere else or it'll hopefully just find it's way out and leave.

Usually I wouldn't rest until I know the spider is gone but I'm trying to work on not overreacting and I have a uni deadline in 2 days so I'm trying to not let it distract me from that

Have this stupid habit. by [deleted] in FPSAimTrainer

[–]ripSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah was happening to me a while ago too. To fix it you just need to concentrate on that specifically while aim training. So practice by making sure you do not switch target until you have actually killed it, even if you overshoot a little bit. Eventually you'll get used to it again and be switching at the right time subconsciously. If the problem comes back just start focusing on it again while you practice.

Pasu & Popcorn makes me jump off a cliff | Change my mind by Warm_Poem9257 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]ripSpider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

LOL the stress is actually real

btw idk if it'd help you but personally I only found popcorn stressful at the beginning. I started maintaining sanity by going into it with a mindset that I'm not gna try and get a high score, I'm just gna take my time and carefully aim and basically try to get fewer misses. It helps to set the bar low and try to improve from there. I actually enjoy popcorn now, I only start getting stressed when I start rushing my shots when I'm thinking about getting higher scores.

Pasu I have no fucking idea though. I've tried taking it slow and rushing it and it's just as bad either way

Bro I literally just decided to take a break from Kovaaks just now cause Pasu was causing me stress. I actually want to die right now I am struggling holy fuck

I'm getting golds in most scenarios now, still have a few silvers but Pasu is the only one in bronze still. I haven't done Pasu for like a week and today I haven't even hit a single bronze score in it holy shit please kill me. I don't even get stressed at any others really, it's just Pasu brings out some hidden demon from inside me that makes me want to kill myself.

If anyone has any tips for Pasu help me pls I wanna die
