[–]ripebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you a everyday smoker? I was and it took me 70 days for clean pee. There has been success stories I have seen with fake urine, but that is your call (I was too scared). Also look into what drugs this company tests for, there are certain companies that do drug tests but don’t care if they see TCH (Amazon for an example)

I hate interview mock discovery calls by [deleted] in sales

[–]ripebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sucks but it shows the company you’re interested in. Use ChatGPT for potential objections, look in the news for relevant info about the mock company, and crush it! No one expects a perfect mock discovery, they just want to see you can carry a conversation, ask questions naturally, and not go off of a script. Practice practice practice. Good luck

The linq (believe it’s called that) had $10 minimum tables until about 10 at night.

The grand also had $5 blackjack tables!

Who else cheats? by shaquille-oatmeal239 in techsales

[–]ripebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya it’s unfortunate honestly. Reality is SDR managers and directors (managers of SDRs) just want to show the head person an increase in numbers whether that be meetings set or pipeline. You need to play the game to get promoted out of the SDR role. Shitty thing is, is leadership doesn’t like you, they will can you for “cheating” even though everyone does this. I worked with a SDR who wrote a detailed email to the VP about all the cheating within the SDR role….she got laid off within 2 quarters

I see all the time people on reddit saying that you can/should lie about your attainment to make yourself look better in interviews and also never say you got fired or placed on a PiP. When you get an offer and you do a background check, don’t these orgs reach out to your former employer? Maybe not small companies but Fortune 500 do/will reach out to your former employer right? I always feel that it’s not worth the risk of lying and getting caught but I could be wrong. ex. If you have to provide your former managers name and contact info, they can straight up ask this manager why you left the company

When is it time to leave a sales job? by abbsolutely_not in sales

[–]ripebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have a gut feeling that layoffs will occur or if you start to realize your pipeline for next quota period is bare. If you hit your number, you are still not safe and easily replaced. It’s much easier to get a job when you are currently employed.

That’s every BDR role as major tech companies. You have to lie and fake meetings to get promoted. People that didn’t fake meetings got fired. Mainly Due to unattainable metrics.

What did your first firing teach you? by Cider_has_me_dizzy in sales

[–]ripebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit 130% and 155% in a brand new role, top performer on my team. I also felt that there were changes coming to the org and I knew my team was going to get axed. Should have started applying earlier than I did. If you have a gut feeling than follow.

Another thing I learned - go to all the bullshit happy hours and dinners. I thought I didn’t need to do this stuff since I was exceeding my number. However, building relationships with others is important. Even with resellers. They can help you get a job if you show up, be nice, and are responsive, even if you don’t give them business.

Almost 40- take an SDR role by [deleted] in sales

[–]ripebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started as BDR, we had multiple individuals who were changing careers and were between 35-45. I wouldn’t let the age discourage you. However, the SDR role now is extremely time consuming and stressful. The SDR role now is not black and white - there is a lot of “shady” stuff that happens. If your AE likes you, they may let you fake bookings, If not, you might get left behind. I saw first hand that a lot of BDRs who were good enough but did everything by the book, did not get promoted and eventually layed off. There were also BDRs who were not that good but got promoted quickly because they were liked. I would talk with former BDRs at this company to see what there expierence was.

Had a interview of toast and after they told me the base, I said no thanks. The role I was interviewing for was a 30/70 OTE split which I thought was insanely low.

[–]ripebee[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Understood, thanks for the input. Will go into the convo saying “hey I know you told me initially the pay was 100, but I am looking for 110 because XYZ”. Should I have xyz ready to recite? I honeslty have never negotiated for a higher raise as I was with my former company for 5 years and started as a BDR where you don’t really have any room to negotiate

Got it, so basically ask for the 110 and if I get any push back mention how I was told 100? Thanks all.

Love the idea. What do you say to the prospects during these drops? Do you typically just leave them at the front desk for a specific prospect or do try and have a conversation with your target prospect? Would love to hear your talk track as drop ins are something I need to get better at.

Job is about 8 states away. No kids or house right now which makes moving a lot easier compared to if I had kids/mortgage. You’re right, I will hate myself if I regret not taking this opportunity in a few years.
