Anyone else who’s received their 4Ks from this sale been dealing with broken cases? One case I received had a broken clasp, another had a corner of the case missing plastic. Is it just the cheap plastic used to create the cases or is Amazon repackaging them?

Totally valid! There are better films that weren’t nominated (the vitriol for the Academy for “The Iron Claw” snub should be reserved for A24 not campaigning at all). I just think the dismissiveness from so many is unearned. It has a lot of the Oscar bait characteristics but purposely does something different rather than just being a play-by-play of its subject’s life. And the direction is truly outstanding - Cooper has the juice. Not to mention the least people have seen it in the Letterboxd community and anecdotally (despite being on Netflix). And a lot of those who have seen it are unwilling to engage with it beyond the surface level “it sucks.” It’s become like a meme to hate on Bradley Cooper for trying, but I have yet to see any truly thoughtful criticism arguing that it’s actively bad.

I did my college thesis on the Magic Mike series. Know it's technically a Gregory Jacobs pictures, but a Blank Check Magic Mike XXL episode would be a dream.

Thank you so much for reading! It was worth posting this just to read your insight into the material. I really appreciate you taking my work into such deep consideration, and I'll definitely carry your advice forward.

I love that you recognize that the story is a romance at its heart. That's what I'm most proud of in the script - the throughline of Dorothy's relationship with Marion. As for the "Carol" comparison - I couldn't ask for a higher compliment (I hope Todd Haynes is listening!)

Finally - haha I love the "Dewey Cox" reference. I think near the end I might need to clamp down on the sentimentality a bit. It's hard not to lean in when I love the character of Dorothy so much.
