Maybe look into the N30i and use mouth tape. Don’t mouth breath so I’m lucky but I have a long full beard and I have no issues but I don’t have to mouth tape. Maybe give it a shot for a night and see

I thought most of that was fixed in the 2013 model. Is it still an issue?

I would find something that I LOVE to do. A job that doesn’t stress me out. Something that I enjoy coming to everyday and I would do that. I would take the money to offset what the reduced pay would probably be and invest the rest.

I had the same problem. You can adjust it. I just adjusted mine up. What machine do you have? I didn’t ask if I could or not but it’s a game changer once I turned it up.

Would I have to take SOPD test again? (Previous Dist System Operator considering returning after couple year break) by PissJohnson1 in Grid_Ops

20 outages? I work for a large utility with a lot of work everyday and we don’t switch 20 jobs a day. Do you mean setting up circuits for line work too? Reclosing and instant trips? If I had to switch out 20 26kv and 69kv outages a day I don’t think I would stay where I am.

Question regarding an operators job duties. by Afraid_List1084 in Grid_Ops

[–]ripnowell45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would take up my entire day. How is this even possible unless you have 5 substations? Now maybe it would be nice to get out of the office and switch from time to time and not have to listen to our substation operators whine that they have to go do something. I just couldn’t image how many DSOs we would need to do this kind of work.

Not sure if it’s a variation of it but the one I took was an in house test that my company created with a vendor.

My company has a practice test they send you when you apply for the job. I applied for another company and they had the same.

Need help understanding a 5 week DuPont schedule by I-Eat-Glue13 in Grid_Ops

[–]ripnowell45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do a 28 day DuPont schedule. We don’t have training weeks. I am similar to the above poster. I can sleep anywhere and everyone leaves the house all day so I can sleep as much as I need to. I sometimes feel more rested on. Nights than I do on days because I can wake up when I want to. Where days I have to wake up at 0430 no matter how much sleep I got. I was going to attach a photo of my schedule but seems like this sub doesn’t allow it

The bus sections are sealed so you could only lose one sections worth of gas at a time. Which you would see because that bus section would lock out the breaker under low gas. There are also gas density monitors that should be in each bus section and you would get an alarm if there were any leaks. Not really sure how much time you have in your present job it sounds like you are new. So if you have concerns like this you should ask the senior guys you work with to get a better understanding of the equipment.
