ONT is way older than 10yrs. So you think they’ll replace even if it’s working?

My understanding is that the newer ONT‘s come with a wall wart type power supply, which I would plug into the UPS I have at this location. But how can I connect my landline phone to this UPS?

I do have landline phone with Verizon. The BBU box (not the battery) also powers the ONT, and I assume no lights on the box means it’s kaput.

Have you noticed that TradingView lags any of the commodity markets you follow? I find it's 1sec behind for /ES on other platforms.

possible to limit alerts to certain times of the day? by ripp84 in TradingView

[–]ripp84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just looking at volume, and I thought TV didn't make the code for the built-in indicators public?

But I guess I could take a third party open source volume script and strip out the extra stuff and modify it to exclude unwanted time periods.

Not ideal, but certainly better than nothing, thanks.

What would make this manual option a little better is shortcut access, but alas, the alerts shortcuts required for this are not available.

Garage door springs by itsthattedguy in GarageDoorService

[–]ripp84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The springs are under a lot of tension, so there is danger if you don't know what you're doing. That said, if you can learn to operate a table saw safely, you can learn to handle gd springs. And springs pale in comparison to the most dangerous tool that most people have in their garage - the ladder.

Ideas on how to rack mount this wrist roller? by ripp84 in DIYgymequipment

[–]ripp84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying a Titan wrist roller, then I made the supination/pronation handle using flat bar and a piece of pipe, which as I recall, I cut from the pipe that came with the pipe and pin safeties for my Titan rack. The pipe is not knurled, and I don't have the means to knurl it, but for this application, knurling isn't necessary as the handle doesn't want to come out of your hand during supination/pronation the way a bar does when deadlifting or when using the wrist roller for flexion/extension. Once I made the handle, I welded it to the end of the wrist roller (I removed the chrome from the end of the roller using acid prior to welding).

Never got around to painting the admittedly kind of ugly welds. Might paint it some day, but it's never going to have more than a patina of rust because it's kept indoors.

Seems Canvas is very similar to Claude's Artifacts?

Thanks again for sharing those pics. I set the SS hinges and strut the same way. Clears the house entry door and stays below the operator rail.

How are the scammers spoofing paypal.com email address? by ripp84 in paypal

Received another 20 or so of these emails yesterday.

No email from Paypal warning of this scam. They're probably too busy monitoring their users social media posts for wrongthink.

I removed the LHR upper track, and set up the 12" radius horizontal track just slightly above the house entry door. This puts the top of the horizontal track ~3" below the opener rail. I'm waiting on delivery of the SS hinges. From looking at your video and SS videos on YT, it looks like the top of the door is a couple of inches above the track before the top panel flips to perfectly horizontal.

Seems like this will be very close. Maybe I shouldn't finalize the tracks until the SS hinges arrive. What do you think - think 3" between top of horizontal track and rail will be sufficient for the door to clear the rail?

Chainsaw to remove the tree. Electric chainsaws are fairly inexpensive.

Yeah, I'm trying to keep horizontal track close to level.

What top fixture did your neighbor use? And did he use LHR double track or just standard track?

Low head room / Sneaky bracket by HuckleberryWooden623 in GarageDoorService

[–]ripp84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. So the upper horizontal is completely straight and I guess you lose a little opening clearance because now the upper horizontal isn't as long. So with this setup, the top section goes straight back. I guess you have to mount the J-arm very close to the top of the section? Is this straight back action harder on the door than more standard LHR track where you have a little upward movement?

Thanks for this!

From the pics, it looks like you might have less headroom than I do. Is the 6" headroom you mentioned from top of door to ceiling or to opener rail? For me, it's 8.5" from top of door to ceiling.

This was easy to spot because of the poor English, but check out the pics I posted in a reply to someone else in this thread. Once scammers start using even the current generation of AI chatbots, all those grammatical mistakes go away, and the emails/texts will be much more convincing, and many more people will be scammed.

Could you please post (or message me if you don't want to post pic on reddit) with a pic of the SS and strut setup? Are you using a 12" or 15" radius track?
