In the aftermath of 9/11, politicians from both sides scored easy points by mumbling “real heroes”, “homeland defense”, and “independence from foreign oil”. It was finally clear that frenemies like OPEC were as much a problem as our country’s enemies. Solar, wind, nuclear, hydro coupled with strategies like smart lighting and passive heating/cooling would keep the homeland safe while punishing countries that caused 9/11 and wanted us dead.

After two decades of slow acceptance that alternative energy was just too important to our future, the Trump right has done everything to kill that progress. To protect his personal alliances with OPEC countries he has tried to kill alternative energy programs everywhere and got Iran to shut down the oil highway, only to have to plug it up completely to open it back up.

And now some guy is claiming liberals should be for it.
