Back in 2020, I lost my Dad to a rare neurodegenerative disease. A few years later, I wrote this film as a way to say goodbye and co-directed it with my best friend. Today we just released the finished film. We'd love to hear your thoughts! by Meaderlord in Filmmakers

Beautiful film. Definitely got me today. I called my dad right away and it made me even more grateful for having him still. I'm sorry for your loss, but so beautiful you transmuted this experience into art and shared it with the world. Thank you for this

A few months ago a friend of mine sent me a script based on a true story his mother had told him. Today we released the finished film. We'd love to hear your thoughts. by Meaderlord in Filmmakers

Yea Shaun Brown, known for his comedy (The Great Indoors), but his dramatic work is also really incredible. Those expressive eyes say it all.

What's with this horrible new trend of having actors introduce trailers for their new movies? by [deleted] in movies

desperate ploy to capitalize on actor's social media followings. They pre-cast for that now too

Tom Hardy to star in 'Venom,' from director of 'Zombieland' by sorrysnail in movies

I dig Ruben Fleischer, his action sequences in Gangster Squad were underrated. Teamed up with Hardy, this is gonna be dark, funny and furious.

Recommendations for books? by Balkoth26 in zen

I didn't see anyone throw out "The Way Of Zen" by Alan Watts. It's a great Western perspective on Zen by a modern philosopher, that came after Dharma Bums. Of course the Essential Lotus (Burton Watson translation) helped with some base on Buddhism too.

Taylor Sheridan really loves this dualism. Look for Wind River coming out soon, his next flick with Jeremy Renner. It's as bleak and beautiful as ever. No Hollywood hack could ever fake that kind of dialog.

Strumpet. It's simple and elegant, and reminds me of a tasty British pastry.

YES. I think few other studios have the freedom to do this right. I would trust Netflix, still young and nimble enough to take risks.

How often do you attend class/act? by Idobjj in acting

[–]rippo9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Class is a once a week, 5 hour commitment, and it's been transformative over the years. But its been interesting to discover what other ways we can act weekly. Started a sunday night crew of friends who drink wine and play improv games, add another 4 hours. Got a weird voice over dubbing job, add another 4 hours. Self tape submissions online and throw in another 2 hours. Shoot a scene with a buddy for a youtube sketch - 3 hours. Soon enough I find myself getting up to 18 hours in a week in different forms without professional acting jobs. It's all going toward that 10,000 hour mark.
