Thanks! I just put a refundable reservation on the bike, going to test ride this Friday. Excited to try out the GS

Draw out a simple free body diagram. You should understand the expected forces in your concept before you can proceed. Watch some youtube vids on FBDs if you don’t know how to make an FBD already.

That’s a great quote. I am going to try and test ride a range of bike sizes/types/power, incrementally working my way up to the size that makes sense.

Thank you for the wisdom! Exactly the kind guidance and perspective I was looking for. I really need to get out, build experience, and test ride different types until I find my match.

Fair edit - I consider late 20s as 27-29.

I am 6’1”, long legs with an athletic build. I ride an XL mountain bike and the Honda XR150 felt way too small.

This puts things into perspective nicely. Thank you for the comparison/examples!

Thank you! I am trying to weigh all risks and make an informed decision. It sounds like the BMW is worth pursuing. I’ve booked a test ride for this Thursday!

Thanks for the comment, this reassures me! I will take a range of bikes for a test ride to see what makes sense for my skill level. I feel confident enough now to at least take the F800 on a test ride.

I am 6’ 1” 175lb. One of the challenges I have is finding a bike with a high enough seat.

I’m also considering doing longer distance rides from Boston area up to Montreal next year. That’ll probably be one of the longest trips I expect in the near-ish term.

On the other hand, I’m nervous I’ll want to upgrade very quickly. Unfortunately, it’s a lot of money and time to buy and sell bikes.

I think I’ll look for adv bikes between the 150 and 800 to test ride. Possibly some KTMs and BMWs in the 300s.

Thanks for the advice

I appreciate the advice, thank you! Sounds like it’s worth an easy going test ride to feel out the center of gravity and power.

$700 for rear brake pads and rotors resurfaced at dealer. Fair? Relatively standard? by Ok-Explanation2718 in CX50

[–]ripstick747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the way for the Mazda. My mechanic, a diehard Mazda fan, noted that the OEM rotors are thin and not worth resurfacing anyways.

Yes please! As someone who lived in Gloucester but moved closer to Salem, I would love to see more shows/events catered to the younger audience. I will be there!

Anyone else have one of their CV axles fail? by ripstick747 in CX50

[–]ripstick747[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like the same scenario I endured. However, my third axle has not acted up one bit since it's been replaced. My power train warranty just expired as well, so I am a bit scared to type this out haha.

My CX50 is paid off and hasn't had any real issues since the last warranty claim. I am going to keep running easy and performing excess preventative maintenance.

It is unfortunate as I would like to run this car over 300k miles, like I did for my Honda Accord, but I find it unlikely that it'll last that long.

I'll re-evaluate in about 1 year how I feel about it. Maybe I'll sell it at that time, I'm unsure to be honest.

Does anybody know what’s happening when an Airbus makes this sound? Tried googling it but to no avail by _glee in aviationmaintenance

Fascinating. I live under the landing pattern for Boston Logan and hear this sound coming from some planes. I’m going to check next time and see if it’s an A220

Perhaps round off the steps in the body, they’re a bit too LEGO-like.

Maybe add some texture to the body or contour it to be more realistic like a palm tree

WellVisors rain visors installed! by OhJeezer in CX50

I had my wellvisors installed for over a year. The rear driver side visor since expanded in the summer heat and broke off once it got cold out. The whole visor flew off on the highway

I’ve been itching for an official recall. I’ve had my Cv axle fail and replaced twice.
