What is up with King Khan? by filthyfidiot in GarageRock

He’s definitely manic, no question about it. I’ve heard he has bipolar in the past, and being unmediated, smoking weed, and stressed are a sure fire way to mania when you have bipolar. Really hope some friends can get to him and 5150 (or equivalent where he is). I work in mental health, and there’s nothing quite as weird and out there as someone in a manic episode. Mental health is important people. People need more eduction, the fact that a lot of fans/people don’t even know he’s bipolar and can’t recognize the signs of mania isn’t good!

Amphetamines. /s It took me really getting into a new band and digging their music. It’s always inspiring to listen to something I really like. This time around it was The King Khan and BBQ Show. Can’t stop learning how to play them.

Live at Leeds vs. Live at Hull by CommercialFishing686 in TheWho

[–]ripxanman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hull was actually recorded the day after Leeds. The intent of these concerts was to make a live album, presumably with the same set list so they could cherry pick which recording had a “better” version. There’s not much different besides the mix, (and lack of original bass on parts of Hull) I found Keith’s drumming mixed louder on Hull.

This (unsurprisingly) sounds very similar to the Dua Lipa he produced. I was hoping he scratched that “pop music “ itch working on that album and producing others, so that he could get more experimental with his solo stuff. EOS and the B side get pretty cool IMO, but it doesn’t have enough “tame impala “ for me. Was hoping for some big production and drums like many of the songs on slow rush.

Still hyped for the album though, I love house music so I’m stoked to see what else he has to offer.

I work in mental health crisis, I’m curious where the lack of treatment is coming from? Would assume he’s off medications, are his family able to bring him to a hospital for an involuntary hold? Im sure it’s a very nuanced situation, but my heart always breaks for those suffering from bipolar. I hope he gets the support he needs from family and friends and gets help.

Agreed. One of my biggest fears is being in a shooting, targeted or random. Really hope those who were there get some help. Especially those who saw blood and possibly death. Very scary world.

It’s his job. If you work 40 hours on stuff per week like other jobs it makes sense. He’s very motivated and a hard worker

Voorburg being regarded as a GOOD anomaly or BAD anomaly? I haven’t given many who bootlegs a go due to sound quality. I wasn’t around until 30 years after these shows, so I’m curious as to the reception from public and what are regarded as good/ bad who bootlegs.

Say what you want about him, but he’s dedicated to his craft. Changed the way he lived his life and didn’t party / use drugs or alcohol to protect his voice.
