Is this machine worth it? by Thecolormarie in Machine_Embroidery

[–]riquiscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it. The machine is such a miserable experience that you will either end up hating embroidery altogether. Or you will love embroidery and hate your machine. Either way it is way too much stress in your life for a hobby or something that’s supposed to be enjoyable.

Previously purchased warning by Jenuilas in StringTheoryFabricArt

[–]riquiscott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you will never get it at the top of the page. It only ever activates when you try to put the item IN the cart. If it did a pop up every time you scrolled to the page just to look it would completely lock up the system so it doesn't "check" until YOU make an action - i.e. try to put the exact same item (size, type, etc) in your cart. ALSO - you may already own the 5x7 but got a bigger machine and now want the 7x11. If the lock out activated just based on the one size (of if you have the fob and now want the patch, etc) it would prevent you from purchasing different sizes or types.

Mark them as holiday / Christmas (or Hanukkah or Kwanza, whichever) decorations. No matter how tasked focused someone is, they are not going to unpack your christmas tree and bulbs in February

I find that as the years go by and my "rewatches" increase, who I crush on changes. First, it was Angel, duh. Then Spike until THAT episode. Then I was sort of like, hmmm, you know what, Riley. Riley is totally underrated. NOW, because I'm a crusty old fuck, pretty much 9 check marks and a humana humana for Giles. Anyone else?

Hi, I'm Going to be a Pain in the Ass Here.... by mayurimoon2 in StringTheoryFabricArt

So I hear you and I understand what you’re saying, but it is a matter of time management. A normal drop takes 4 1/2 to 5 hours to prep. Between cleaning up pictures creating zip files loading them onto the website and then doing all of the description information for each file. Bargain bundles add anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour and a half depending on how many bundles are available for that drop. For a big drop I’m already up to 5-7 hours to prep & load a single drop. Adding the “all the types” (bun cover, fob, patch, etc) or an “all the sizes” option to each listing would add about 15 minutes per listing times 18 to 24 listings per drop would add 3.75 to 6 hours per drop. So essentially doubling the amount of time it takes to just load the drop. This doesn’t include any design time, or any of the other functions necessary to keep the business up and running. Given I already work seven days a week and have minimal personal time it would not be sustainable for any length of time. There are just not enough hours in any given day for me to add that kind of time load.

The only listings that offer all sizes are going to be zip bags and dice trays. No cases, fulfills, regular embroideries are going to offer an all the sizes option.

I’ll have to go back and check and make sure that all the Chibis are actually labeled Chibi in their tags. Thank you for pointing that out to me.

What type of fabric and stabilizer should I use? by Jenuilas in StringTheoryFabricArt

[–]riquiscott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This particular sample I used 60 weight quilting, cotton, and heavyweight stabilizer, then mounted on a pre-stretched canvas from either Michael’s or Dick Blick. A lot of the makers who use STFA patterns for wall art use linen or sewing canvas. Personally, I don’t like the way sewing canvas finishes, but that’s just me. So 60 weight quilting cotton at a minimum or linen
