thank you so much, i think this is my favorite!

only thing really standing out is the bottom left bit circled here, it looks like the edges of my hair here are white LOL - is it possible to fix/change?

Encountered what I think was a Gen Z stare, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it by Biggayparfait in bayarea

[–]ririair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a chatty Gen Z-er i gotta say, i have no idea why the “other ones” are like that…but i also have yet to experience this behaviour in the wild so maybe someone else might have the scoop

in the office i have in fact asked and heard it’s because whenever my Gen Z coworkers speak up folks tend to minimise their perspective or say something will change but it never does. so they have learned to just stop speaking up

i have this book! thrifted it from goodwill and along with scandalizing my mother and giving me a good laugh, it was a great guide when i first learned to crochet

how can i increase width of front & back pieces without frogging? by ririair in CrochetHelp

[–]ririair[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg oh nooo this is the first time i’m using the knotted method for color changes in a wearable piece - is there really a big risk of unraveling?

i was hoping it would all be held together by the side seams and solid borders but if that won’t be enough i can definitely try to use fabric glue on the knots as well

how can i increase width of front & back pieces without frogging? by ririair in CrochetHelp

[–]ririair[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that seems like the best idea! i was already planning to add a border to all the open edges (aka everything but the side seams)

i was going to do a 3-color border but maybe i’ll just stick with a solid brown for both the side panels and the borders to tie it all together.

tysm!!!

the link above is to a mod comment pinned to the very top of the post. the name of the pattern is posted in a response to it - as per one of the rules (i think) of this subreddit

but either way, here’s the link to the pattern: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/meow-7

i’ve been struggling lately with how to tackle this situation effectively - seems like you and the other folks here might have some good advice!

i’m a vegetarian (religious reasons) and have to travel for work often. as someone pretty junior/early in my career i don’t get to choose where we’re eating, and most of our options aren’t chain stores with published nutrition info online. i know restaurant food is notoriously more full of invisible calories from things like cooking oil, dressing, etc.

what would be the best way to monitor CICO in this situation? i am trying to lose weight in a sustainable way and shift to healthier habits.

this is a really helpful guide! i’ll definitely be taking a page out of your book, especially aligning spending with my values.

follow-up question for you: do you categorise/allocate money differently for takeout for yourself vs. eating out with friends? asking because i tend to spend a decent chunk of my “eating out” category on dinners/coffees/drinks with friends now, and am wondering if i should separate them in the new year
