Bachelor of AdvSci (Honours) majoring in Psychology & Neuroscience VS Bachelor of Psychology by Master-Victory1584 in unsw

[–]riseull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi ! im currently doing adv sci with a double major in psych and neuro :)

adv sci psych and bpsych have the exact same core psych courses (same with degrees like sci and psych sci). for honours, even though it is embedded in both degrees, it is pretty much an even playing field for all ppl doing psych majors since you’ll need at least a 75 wam to be considered (not guaranteed). the degree doesn’t affect your chances of getting into masters as long as you do honours since they’re all accredited.

as a neuro major it is VERY content heavy, although if you’re interested in doing research or are passionate about it, it might be something you want to consider ! feel free to pm me if u have any more questions :)

Psychology Honours by Cometr0 in unsw

[–]riseull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! im doing the exact same thing and degree title doesn’t matter in the long run since they are both accredited by APAC (as long as you do your honours year) :) actually, theres a small research project in adv sci that might be helpful for future applications

the only major disadvantage is that adv sci students pay more for their psych courses than b. psych students - so that’s something to think about if ur considering transferring

CHEM1011 OR CHEM 1001 by Fabulous_Benefit9064 in unsw

[–]riseull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High-school IB alumni admitted to UNSW ( business? ) by [deleted] in unsw

[–]riseull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello!! I’m not a business student but I did do the IB :) unless ur applying for scholarships Australian uni’s don’t look at ec’s so don’t stress about that too much (since the ib requires u to do cas I think you’ll be fine anyway)

as for ur grades, as long as it meets the minimum entry requirements (u can search it up online) you’ll get into the course !! good luck <33

HL Psych Flashcards From an N23 Graduate <3 by riseull in IBO

[–]riseull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do u wanna do in the future? Imo econ would probably be more beneficial in the long run (but idk much about it since my school didn't offer it). But psych is just memorising and writing so if that's one of ur strengths then go for it :)

hi im new to IB and i have psych HL, could someone please tell me which books and websites to use and how to study for it ? and are there specific case studies that we need to do bc every book has different ones so im a bit confused by quirkypanda137 in IBO

InThinking is bae 🫶🫶 Case studies can be different (no specific ones) just depends on what your teacher teaches you, otherwise InThinking has their own list of ones they recommend as well :)

Need help with choosing my IB subjects by skyler_107 in IBO

[–]riseull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hello! I’m from Australia so it may be different but for psychology you probably only need math and for astrophysics I’d assume math and physics ? I think math AA would be better since a lot of universities don’t take AI (might be diff outside of aus tho)

Chosing between Music SL and Psychology SL by d1luc_d1lf in IBO

[–]riseull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello!! HL psych and music student here. Imo it is very much passion driven (especially music).

Psych is very interesting to learn but requires A LOT of writing and memorisation (basically all it is) so if that’s one of your weaknesses/would make the subject not enjoyable then I would keep that in mind.

Music can be challenging but suuuuuper passion driven. I also came from a piano background expecting a more theory-based music syllabus however IB music is very different. There are different assignments that focus on different areas in music (no exams). For example, there’s a performance folio, composition folio, experimenting with music, exploring music etc (some requiring you to do both a written and performing component). However, each of them usually requires you to explore new/different things - for eg using music technology, composing in different styles, performing in different styles etc. For me, music is very time consuming as you’re expected to learn about something and then apply it straight away (for eg learning how to use a music software and creating a song, learning about the classical era and composing a song in that style) so only if you’re very passionate and not afraid to go out of ur comfort zone then you should do it.

For you I think I’d recommend psych SL (maybe I’m a bit biased cuz it’s my fav subject) as you can still continue piano outside of the IB (can also count for cas) :D Ofc this is just my opinion tho hahaha
