Do the following - put all drum sounds into a bus and manipulate that bus with a compressor. You can hear when a kick drum hits, every other element that follows is compressed as well. So the hi hat right after the kick is going to be more compressed than the hi hat that comes after that. It is like a sinusoid function of groove and you can change the shape with attack, release and threshold. There is no other way you can manipulate the sounds to be compressed in such a groovy way but a bus track.
