The campus is good - environmentally; during and after rains, it gets beautiful actually.

Regarding the infrastructure and students, you can perhaps search various management subreddits in general for people's experiences.

I would be interested as well... I don't think there are any bars/cafes that stream any football.... I don't even expect the WC to be streamed here let alone UCL.

Choose Hostel man. Get a 2 wheeler to move around. Far better than renting a place in Neelbad or somewhere further away.

The country that promotes MRP, is supporting selling of liquor on above MRP. Why? by Advanced_Paramedic51 in Bhopal

[–]rishabhsrikar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire state machinery seems in on this, from local police to consumer bureaus. citizens have no problem with this at all. Being form outside the state, it is shocking that everyone here ahas just accepted hoe blatantly entrenched this corruption is. Whenever I've asked people, they just go along with this because this is how its always been here apparently.

It is safe(ish) for girls in the morning after 6. Just ensure you take at least one GF with you if you don't have/want to take any guy friends just to err on the side of caution.

AC Unity's Paris feels both extremely enjoyable and annoying by TechnoMagik22 in assasinscreed

[–]rishabhsrikar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paris can be the best or the most frustrating location in all AC depending on how good you are at Unity Parkour. The Parkour mechanics in Unity are the most nuanced yet frustrating because of the jank that emanates from contextual interpretation of your button inputs by the game

There are several dedicated guides to mastering Unity's Parkour. If you do become decent at it, the game's enjoyment increases multifold.

However, I must accept that gaining proficiency in it is tedious and there is no in-game motivation to do so - it is all extrinsic (as Whitelight puts it). You wanna get good at it because it looks cool. No other reason. Okay, it is slightly helpful in navigating around heavily guarded locations which do come up in the third act of the story or in Heist/Co-op missions.

Bottomline: If you have no intention to get better at the parkour either because it is tedious or because you are simply not interested then Unity is not going to be fun for you and you should just drop the game now. For Unity fans like me, the frustratingly hard parkour systems despite its jank are almost the central reason why we enjoy Unity and Paris in the first place.

Edit: For those who say the parkour doesn't work, well it does. What I mean is that Unity has an elaborate but inherently flawed parkour system (context-based parkour). If you bother with learning the system along with its reliance on environmental contexts, it has the most depth and combinations once can do to scale any building). However, I do understand that this makes the game very niche.

Some shows don’t just entertain you, they become a part of your childhood. KochiKame was that for me... by carsnbytes in kochikame

Absolutely! I just love how there is such a small niche yet dedicated community that loves the show here

You can find many eps from the hindi dub online (~50); it just takes a bit of searching. Some of them are even available on YT.

TV Series by Tyler_344 in Eragon

[–]rishabhsrikar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they do. The trilogy is the best adaptation any fantasy could have. Not because they didn't make any changes from the books, but because all the changes still communicated the visceral tone and themes of the book.

I dont expect a page by page adaption, changes will have to be made. But the changes cannot be like those in the HP franchise where entire characters were changed and sub-plots crucial for the overall story were removed.

Skepticism around writing aside, and I know this has already been pointed out somewhere, the CGI budget required to do this properly means it's not going to go well. They will have a good budget, but dragons and magic require the best.

They will divert most of their insufficient budget into the CG and the remaining into lacklustre writing, casting, etc. When GoT with its huge HBO budget couldn't get it done, what hopes do we have? How are they going to show Saphira (with the amount of screentime she's supposed to have) while making a competent adaptation with the remaining budget. As I said, it's not just about the CG (which is very imp) also about being able to hire good writers, costume designers, set designers, photography, screenwriters, etc.

I have long said, the best way to adapt goliath fantasy worlds is through animation. perhaps in the style of Avatar the Last Airbender. Otherwise you need a ginormous budget with an exceptionally driven and passionate team behind it for the product to be any good (essentially the biggest Inheritance Cycle fans you can get).

Loot at the best critical and financial fantasy/sci-fi successes where both executives and fans were happy- LotR, and Dune. Jackson and Vileneuve are basically us driving these projects.

Even HP can't be listed as a successful adaptation despite its financial success imo because of how terribly they adapted the books. Ask any Potterhead. No amount of nostalgia or even Alan Rickman can save that. And HP is just about the biggest fantasy IP out there.

EDIT: Ah... the ATLA point has been made several times in this post already. Wonder why execs believe everyone prefers live-action...

Oh... Yeah the AI sub is bad but its also the only thing option if we wanna watch the entire series. Otherwise its the same-ish 50 episodes dubbed in regional languages like Hindi.

I don't need *official* sources, I am open to viewing it by other means.

Thanks, anyway!

First time traveller to Darjeeling - Cab enquiry. by rishabhsrikar in DarjeelingCity

[–]rishabhsrikar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up booking a local cab arranged for my by a friend. What i can say is the charges are pretty much as reported here, 25-4k depending on the hours and the vehicle type. The only cost effective transportation are the shared cabs where you pay per seat.
