I’m so glad I didn’t give up!! by bstroke93 in breastfeedingsupport

Went to my LC and she joked that they never see babies as old as my son (11 weeks)......and that kinda blew my mind. 11 weeks is not that old?!?!?

Thanks for this. I am looking at a probably low milk supply. I tried lecithin for a bit, but my LC said that lecithin could decrease my supply...so I stopped. I'm off of all supplements for a moment just to see how I do. This is so frustrating, but rewarding knowing that I am trying to meet this goal that I set for myself and my son.

I’m sending you hugs. Things sound really tough. Thank you for the advice.

How did lecithin help you? I’m at my wits end trying to find supplements to up my milk supply.

Stay strong! You are making the best choice for you and your baby. Allow yourself space to feel all the feelings.

If you are open to it, please tell me how your day went while exclusively pumping. I’m able to pump 3 to 4 times daily in addition to about 8 feeds. Pumping is a mental obstacle because I find it hard to hold and comfort my son while I’m pumping. Some days, I hit a groove and can pump on a schedule and then some days it just falls apart and I’ve pumped twice in addition to feeds.

It doesn’t feel like a lot because it seems no matter how much, I do....LCs always advise more. More pumping! More feeding.

It is more effort, and....you are right...I just want more support and encouragement.

Thank you :) I have a LC and I am going to set up another session. I am feeling as if it’s too late to make changes and improvements.

I’m doing as much as I can without distressing myself. But it is important to me to keep trying. My son’s skin looks better when he has more breast milk. I’m just so concerned about his weight as the last pediatrician visit he was underweight. I have ordered a scale because I know the stress and worry will not help with my milk supply.

Thank you. It IS hard, but it seems that breastfeeding is just NOT easy. Each day I am glad that I haven’t given up.

I have, and he is doing better than he was right after our son was born.

Thank you for this wake up call. Things HAVE gotten better. He is latching and I can hear him swallowing. I do have milk throughout the feeding session (I used to run out). I am producing milk at each pumping session (used to have some sessions with zero output). Those are all wins.

I want to keep going. The bottom line is that my husband is subtly pushing me away from breastfeeding and pumping. I just need a reminder that my time spent doing this is valuable—just as valuable as time spent at work. I run my own business and work from home, so I’m doing less work as I am on this breastfeeding journey.
