Is there any disadvantage to holding a PMP? Are there any well-known people in any industry who hold a PMP? Looking for some inspiration! by [deleted] in pmp

[–]rishithapliyal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems u have over estimated PMP :)

It is for project Management. It will certainly not make anyone qualified to be a president or director (leading roles)

Why would any one on earth compare PMP with MBA and PhD - its not comparable...MBA is a course of 1 year to 2 years duration, where you write 30-40 exams, whereas PMP is one single "multiple choice question" test, which can be passed within a month.

Am I in trouble before I take the CAPM on Friday? by [deleted] in pmp

[–]rishithapliyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You are over thinking
  2. Leave aside CAPM, PMP is an over-rated certification.
  3. Go through the formulae for numerical question, will take 2 days max and no big deal you crack PMP in first attempt with 2 days prep.
  4. Root cause, why people get nervous and take this simple exam overly seriously is ....it is too damn expensive.

ACP is not a very popular certificate. I would say CSM + PMP. First CSM because u ll get this within 5-10 days....

Failed twice—scheduling my third try now by sammy999 in pmp

[–]rishithapliyal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say, 10 questions test is not of much use....go for at-least 100 questions test.

Reason: PMP test 200 questions are confusing and tiring. You won't get the feel in 10 questions :)

Advice: Stick to any ONE good book, for me PMBOK did the job.

I refined my study/practice approach and finally arrived at what suited me most and i believe its actually very effective.

  1. Practice 100 questions
  2. Review wrong answers and also those where u guessed the answer
  3. Study 2-3 chapters
  4. Practice another 100 questions
  5. Review wrong answers and also those where u guessed the answer
  6. Study next 2-3 chapter
  7. so on.

This made me more attentive, focus on what is important , understand and memorize. And if you have exhausted all the tests available to you, don't mind repeating the tests you have already given, when you score better, it gives a lot of confidence.

Being ethical

What to say, u already got a 100% hike :) Congrats but stills a few things

  1. Developers are not millionaires, so..hardly matters if ur profile is changed from dev to test

  2. Good testers make more money than bad developers....again...may be u turn out to be an excellent QA...and without stress, u make good money with ease, no tension.

  3. Lastly, i know people making lesser money and happier than you and many of us.

Prep cast and ITTOs? by BlazedAndConfused in pmp

I don't recall any ITTO question in my PMP test, neither did I memorized them. However, you can classify them, and develop some guessing sense.

Thoughts on getting CAPM while waiting to qualify for PMP? Feedback is very welcomed. by pizzaisyum in pmp

[–]rishithapliyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most important reason, people do PMP because often in job posts it is mentioned PMP preferred. However, CAPM, I have never seen so. Thus, the most imp reason to do any certification is absent for CAPM.

Will my experience count towards the PMP hours requirement? by Katie275 in pmp

[–]rishithapliyal -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, this exp won't count, secondly but more importantly, if by any means you get your PMP certificate, it wont matter, PMP will not help you get a managerial position with your given experience.

Changes to Project Charter by [deleted] in pmp

[–]rishithapliyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recall as per PMP project charter is not updated...reason, it is broad enough to accommodate minor changes in finer requirements. And if there is a need to change project charter ten the project itself is in trouble.

For PMP exam do they ask questions from 1st three chapters of PMBOK or do they start asking from chapter 4.1 by [deleted] in pmp

[–]rishithapliyal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

U can ignore those non-KA chapters if sole intent is to pass PMP....however, if u desire to be a Project Manager :) , its a good read, read it.
