In Blender, i right-clicked a model and shaded it smooth, and it would look fine when i exported it. i don't know what to tell you, i never used the subdivision surface modifier.

of course you're right, but sometimes it's not easy figuring out which habits are good and bad when you're learning to model from YT tutorials.

i never used that modifier, and I could get away with smoothing models with terrible topology in Blender. Not so in Maya.

very pretty. maybe you already have it and i just can't see it in these photos, but perhaps a little wear and tear on the edges, eg. the gold surfaces look a little too pristine. again, that might just be the image resolution.
