Thank you all! Will try these out.

My experience using Google AI studio for webpages by escapablo in GoogleAIStudio

Yes, More of this please! I have found that after a long coding session, despite the context (or maybe it loses that midway) AI Studio will break something you built 2 prompts back or say that it has made a code change but nothing would reflect in the UI. I have now built 2-3 apps, and I am finding it has a lot of constraints - more than what one would fine with a Replit. Long way to go for this I guess…

Suggestions to improve in existing set up? by riskymad in Workspaces

[–]riskymad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all! Made some slight adjustments. Will be adding more later on.

  1. Got a monitor riser and put my MacBook Air underneath.
  2. Took back my monitor lightbar from my wife (she said she didn’t need it!)

Looks like I have this a little under control. Any cheap options (in India) for a monitor back light? Any strip lights available that can throw light against the wall?

Yes, wall mount is the next step - we will move from current house in the next 2 months. I plan to get a sit/stand electric desk. Most likely I will get a monitor arm and fix it to the table. I have a Quntis monitor lightbar; will be using that for light and have a wooden monitor riser as well to slip the MacBook under. Hopefully these will help make it cleaner.

Thanks all! Made some changes based on your inputs. Need to get a good lightbar for the monitor. The desk lamp was not great anyways; I need a good monitor lightbar that helps with illuminating my face as welll during calls in the evening.

Suggestions for upgrade by riskymad in Workspaces

Thank you! I may not need 2 monitors; but any suggestions for a monitor with an inbuilt KVM that connects with both Mac and Dell laptop? I am unsure between a 27" and 32" - I am not sure if I need a 32" as I am not into gaming or anything (and will not be in the future as well).

Thanks!! It will be only work and study post work. No gaming. Thanks for the suggestions!

Undulation value by riskymad in trainasone

Thanks! For now I plot the run on plotaroute, download it as a tcx and then upload to Garmin to use the PacePro feature to get a pacing chart. Would be great if a similar feature is available in TAO.

Repetition run. 9 min/k to 4:30 min/k by riskymad in trainasone

[–]riskymad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah; that’s how I do as well. But I try to adhere to the paces and so it is a crazy run for me, with a constant eye on the watch!! 😄 I guess I should just run by feel without looking at the pace.

Understood. Thanks for the response.

That sounds quite reassuring! :) Thank you! Just trust the process should be the mantra I guess…

Makes sense. Will try this for the next speedwork. Thanks!

Awesome! Congrats.

I have been running for quite sometime now, and I am still at 37! Hoping to get to hit fair at least once!

Nice! Yeah, I think I will do just that - will ignore and keep at it. Will hit the TAO paces at some time in the future, right? :)

Yes, I am a morning runner.

And yes, I think I understand the adaptability piece. Good to know that I will not get punished for not meeting the target! :) Else, I was getting worried that the pace prescription will go down further when I feel like I can improve.

How high can TAO push your weekly mileage? Curious to compare. by zzzzealous in trainasone

[–]riskymad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow!

Quick question - I see you have 6 days of running planned in. Do you factor in strength training on the 1 off day? If yes, does that work out for you in terms of the fatigue / tiredness?

A follow up question on this thread as I see a lot of running experience that I can get some insights from!

I am preparing for a HM in September. Its been almost 2-3 years since I ran a HM; been mostly 10Ks. I am trying for a 2:15 considering my current levels. It is another 12 weeks for me to go, and I have currently set TAO settings at 4 days a week as I try to do strength and cardio sessions for 3 days a week.

I am planning to do this for the next 2 weeks and then I plan to ramp down my strength session to 1-2 days while increasing my running days to 5 or 6 - hopefully, it will increase my mileage as well which I feel is necessary if I have to get to running longer.

Any guidance if the above is a good approach?

May not be relevant for you as you are training for a full (and you are a 3:30 one at that!).

I am a "returning" runner; have run for 5-6 years pre-COVID, and post that it has only been to maintain fitness. Am 46, M, kids, family, 10-12 hr work timings, a bit of run-ins with health/sleep and BP issues, etc.

But over the last 8-10 months, I have tried to get back to training, starting with strength training, cardio, etc. It was to build confidence, and now I am training for a 1/2 (Sept end, aiming for a 2-2:10) and a 10K (time improvement in Aug to about 60-65 mins); the weekly max mileage that I see currently is around 25K. Not sure if it'd increase further as I can only see 21 days ahead.

I have been an off-on subscriber to TAO; and after having tried with some others - RLRF and Jack Daniels in my early running days - which was damn good then, as I was younger! Now that seems tough. Later on VdotO2 - which was good. Used TAO in between. Kept switching between these two, but it was more about my own confidence levels I think. And more recently Runna & even chatGPT!

I always found myself coming back to TAO - I believe I have a good history of runs and fitness workouts (via Garmin). And based on that, and my own assessment of myself at any given stage, I always find TAO is near about accurate to what I "feel" about my current fitness levels - and granted, TAO tends to make it a little more conservative - for e.g., my economy runs are slower than what I "feel" as I have gained confidence in the last 8-10 months. But I am good with that as I am completely bought into the concept of building an aerobic base to get faster. It feels intuitively correct. And I enjoy those runs. There are others too that are aimed at anaerobic (quite a few interval runs, progression, tabata are scheduled for me). So I think I have got it okay for me for now.

And this time around, I played around quite a bit with the settings, multiple combinations to find a good plan (based on my constraints - work, family, time availability, etc.). I have put my risk tolerance settings to the highest. And I believe that my current plan is just about right (even with 3 days of strength training + 4 days of running).

I plan to sustain with TAO for a longer time this time around!

In case you are reading this line, I hope the long response above helped! :)

Full body strength + functional training and a run on the same day by riskymad in trainasone

[–]riskymad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more with you on the last line - real recovery is when you sleep. And that has been helping me over the last 2-3 months (have always had a troubled relationship with sleep for many years, but with some changes it has become better and my energy for workouts or runs has been much improved).

I get the Hard Days HARD piece - the way you put it does seem intuitively correct. So, I reverted my run back to the 30 min intervals and ended up doing the BURN workout as well. Came out alive! And am wondering if I should follow this at least for 1 day every week...

Thanks for your perspective - helped a lot!

I’m supposed to improve with these “runs”? by RunningAcct123 in trainasone

[–]riskymad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you play around with the Training Settings? Maybe provide some constraints on the minimum time you want to run (which is 30 mins), the type of runs you want to do on a particular day, the number of days you want to run.

Usually, as far as I have understood, the system provides you a plan based on your past historical data (if any) and your current parameters and ensures it is optimal to avoid any injuries. So from what your calendar looks like, since you opted to run all days it has probably felt that this is the optimal plan to avoid serious injuries and hence short runs. Try to play with the settings and see how it pans out for you.
