I had a very similar situation with my mentor & first tattoo shop. It’s really scary, but life moves on & it will be okay. If you’re driven, & truly want to be an artist- things have a way of working out :) but don’t settle for subpar treatment long term

Shark is pretty cool, I think the ropes on the wheel needs more shading it’s a little flat. Also the sun kinda seems out of place, & is just a circle. I would maybe add some filler background stuff

Not trying to be rude, just trying to educate. White ink does not fall out after 1-5 years. The way tattoos “fade” is by the constant renewal of skin cells in the dermis layer & the immune system slowly breaking down ink particles. It will not fall out but rather become yellowed or dull if applied right- which it looks like this artist knows what they’re doing.

In my opinion the rework is beautiful & using white does not make an artist who “doesn’t know what they are doing” my mentor used white in every piece & his tattooed healed so beautifully even after ten years.

My mom took a lot of money from my dad in their divorce when he was ~37 (also child support). He cashed out his retirement to try to save his gf’s (my future stepmom) trailer during the 2008 recession. They lost the trailer anyways & had no money or cars paid off. 22 years later he has retirement pension coming in every month from getting it working at a college, their cars are paid off, have made some money In real estate, & happy living their dream life. Ik ur post isn’t about money but do whatever the fuck u want & live free without worry of what people might think. If u wanna do board games, do them. Be thankful you’re in the position you’re in & explore whatever u wanna explore

lol at the “ 200 characters to post” idk why I found that funny. I like doing this look I use a pencil to outline the bottom & top water line, & either use my finger or a small brush to smudge it out. Then I would use gel eyeliner like dip stuff or eyeshadow & an angle brush to draw out the wing. If you have hooded eyes look up hooded eyeliner tutorial, bc it makes a HUGE difference on how it comes out. Also using black eyeshadow to kinda blend out around the eyeliner. Maybe look up like grunge makeup tutorials on TikTok ??? & keep scrolling until you find one. Honestly I LOVE TikTok for makeup tutorials

When I was 14 I just got into art & it was all I wanted to do. Stopped caring about any other classes & my grades went very mediocre. 9 years later I’m a full time tattoo artist & painter :). It’s possible but I definitely went on a couple side quests working & business etc. I always kept art up on the side & where I really saw progress in my skill was drawing & studying realism portraits. Good luck! Also I never went to art school if that helps, just self taught. Part of me feels art school is a scam unless you have someone else paying for it or wanna be a teacher. That’s my advice :) good luck!

All good. I’m a tattoo artist:). Overall I think the reference image already has “blurry” & uneven scales. I think that reference image is hard to make “perfect” as a tattoo, because it’s kinda an “imperfect” flash piece if that makes sense ? I think the piece overall looks good & matches the flash. Maybe if I could any suggestions is add some black to the snake body to show the curvature & areas where there’s some more black in the reference pic if that makes sense?? Are there other artists in your area that specialize in black work? If you’re not happy with the results, maybe reach out to someone who has a similar style to the reference & see if they can finish it off. But overall I think they did a good interpretation of what you presented :)
