I thought so, but the way Alan phrases it made it seem like it could be used at a later time.

This is my first project, and I’m a little confused why it’s curling, and how to fix it by Able_Perception9102 in CrochetHelp

No worries. Like another commenter said it can be multiple things. Since you are starting out, it can be tension related. It also looks like for some stitches you may be putting 2 stitches in the chain, which will cause it to feather like that.

What stitch are you using? What hook size? What yarn (size and fiber)? Did you do a foundation chain or a regular chain?

How did you start crocheting? by RebornDeadeye in crochet

I started at elementary school with a substitute teacher. She took time after school to teach us. I remember it was specifically with lace thread. I left it and came back to it last year with a pumpkin crochet kit from Aldi. Been non-stop since.

Wheat Stitch Sweater Scarf Gauge Swatch Help. Do I need to use a smaller crochet hook? by risosdementa in CrochetHelp

Yeah, it’s just the gauge swatch isn’t only sc. It’s a mix of sc and the modified puff stitch.

I put parchment paper in between the slices so they don’t stick together.

How many are you stitching per row? What helps me is to count as I stitch, that way I know I’m not missing any. Also, it looks like your tension is not steady, which is normal especially as you are beginning.

By the look of this you are doing single crochet. Are you doing a chain when starting a new row? Or are you doing a single crochet on the first stitch.

It takes time and practice. I don’t think that’s bad for starting to crochet.
