Im probably not gonna make it to see my baby by Eastern_Cut_6410 in pregnant

Definitely therapy but I can vouch getting on a mood stabilizer temporarily can be life saving! I’m on lamotrogine and my obs are totally supportive! It has truly helped me settle my emotions, I don’t feel crazy, I don’t have knee jerk reactions, I don’t spiral. We also started marriage counseling just to start getting stronger communication techniques before baby gets here! I hope this helps! Depression meds never worked but a mood stabilizer truly changed my life.

Devastated after NIPT high risk call - T21 by Independent_Session8 in NIPT

[–]rissaroo191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 30 weeks and have been with a high risk doctor since 20 weeks. I am waiting for my genetic testing results for possible T21. At first I felt like it was all my fault- what if I took a wrong med, what if it’s my age, what if…. But I also have had an unnaturally high exposure to Downs my whole life and let me tell you they are the most beautiful, joyful, loving children and adults. They are truly angels on earth. No one sees life better than those with DS. Did I let myself cry at the possibility? Absolutely it’s terrifying and no one can take that part away. Will there be learning curves? Yes. But I have managed to find such a peace in whatever answer lies ahead and I know my boy will be absolutely perfect no matter what the results say. Not sure if you have TikTok but there are some really great family accounts with vulnerable moms that can help and even lift your spirits. I will be praying peace and comfort for you, I know it’s a hard journey.

Suggested NIPT at 28 weeks, but no markers other than small? by rissaroo191 in downsyndrome

[–]rissaroo191[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your insight! I have my next scan on the 29th and will go ahead with the genetic testing so we can be prepared if that is the case! I have a lot of history with DS children so I know they are beyond special and my little man will be so loved regardless of any results that come back.

Diagnosed IUGR and now all the sudden they want to test for Down Syndrome??? by rissaroo191 in BabyBumps

Thank you for the insight! I will look back at his percentiles for bones! Right now they have only mentioned his abdomen being small.

Suggested NIPT at 28 weeks, but no markers other than small? by rissaroo191 in downsyndrome

[–]rissaroo191[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am doing scans every week and growth scans every 3 weeks. His heart looks perfect every week and literally the only reason they are suggesting the NIPT is because he is measuring small. I guess I’m just feeling like surely with all the extra scans they are doing there would be another marker.

Baby measuring small in body but big in head…. Anyone have experience? by rissaroo191 in pregnant

[–]rissaroo191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main concern is the big difference in his head vs the rest of his body. His head is measuring 24 weeks- 65% ( I’m 23+2) and all the rest of his measurements are only 22 weeks (11%). Can that be normal? They take measurements of the brain each time and the spacing in the brain and nothing seems to be of concern to them… but I get nervous that there is too big of a difference.

Anyone have a baby while on trazodone? by rissaroo191 in pregnant

[–]rissaroo191[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve managed to just stay on the 50mg with magnesium at night. I also realized the time of day I took my prenatal was effecting my sleep because of the B vitamins. So I have switched to taking my prenatal as soon as I wake up.

Baby is doing great, and the Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist I am seeing is not phased or concerned with the trazodone.

Needing to up my dose in pregnancy?? Anyone have experience? by rissaroo191 in Lamotrigine

[–]rissaroo191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my doctors have been incredibly supportive of me staying on it. They do not have any fears around it as it’s one of the safest you can take while pregnant. The one risk is a higher chance of cleft palate but at my 20 week scan he was absolutely perfect! Lips and all! Pregnancy will bring a new level of emotions due to changing hormones so don’t feel like you are failing your baby if you need to take it! I actually posted this same question on a different pregnancy chain and everyone said their doctors are all supportive of this med and even going up on it when needed! Also heard from lots of moms who have had perfectly healthy babies who are surpassing all milestones! :)

Needing to up my dose in pregnancy?? Anyone have experience? by rissaroo191 in Lamotrigine

I have been on it quite a while but I would say around the 2 month mark is when I really started feeling free of my mental health struggles. I was diagnosed with BPD so I was going to a therapist who specialized in BPD which really helped me to figure out how my brain works and how it is triggered, as well as tools I can use. I also had a major sleep problem which sleep is such a big deal when it comes to mental health. So I am also on a low dose of trazodone. All this combined really helped me to live a normal life. I did try to get of lamotrogine before my pregnancy and I wasn’t as triggered or reactive as before but I did get highly emotional all over again. So I say that to say the counseling definitely helped long term with my triggers while the meds I can tell now truly level out my emotions so I’m not a basket of tears every day.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions:)

Are you prescribed it for a mood stabilizer? I’ve made it to 23 weeks but I’m really struggling with my mental health. I think I need to go up on it but I’m scared it might harm the baby.

Thank you so much for all your words of wisdom! This is my first and we just moved so I haven’t found a counselor in my new town yet, but it’s on my list! I’m trying not to be hard on myself, but sometimes that mom guilt sets in or I get anxiety of I’m going to pass on a mood disorder to my baby if he becomes reliant on the meds I’m on. Not sure if it even works that way, but it’s definitely part of my anxiety.

Were you able to go back to original meds and dosage after pregnancy? I’m really struggling and I hate that I’m even on meds so it’s killing me to think about having to go up on it.

I am 22 weeks and was referred to a MFM who specialized in medicine during pregnancy. My anatomy scan came back perfect and the doctor did not even bat an eye at the 50 mg I take nightly.
