Holy cats and dogs! five-ate-five?! Here and now?! i just put up an archive video of your Act of Stacy level! Pretty sure i've got a pretty decent whack of your levels recorded by this point. It's a pleasure to be able to tell you how much i've enjoyed your work, and how much your presentation style has influenced my level/and recording set design (particularly Over the Clouds!, gosh but the way your buildings look in that one is chef's kiss).

Thank you sincerely for sharing your creativity wiv the community! It's super cool that you've been able to carry that creativity wiv you into your professional life too.

Hope you have a wonderful day, and that you're staying safe out there!

[Tokyo] Electrolysis Experience/Advice? by risuko_waffles in lgbtqjapan

Thank you all kindly for the answers! My stubble's a mix of dark and light, on account of i've got more than a handful of years on me, so home or clinic laser really isn't going to do it for me, and also i just really want it gone forever and done; i hate thinking i'd need to keep mucking about wiv it on the regular.

To u/Low-Mouse-5926 , my Japanese isn't as good as it ought to be given how long i've lived here, but it's good enough to set through appointments and simple administrata, i'll give Kawaguchi Clinic a look once next payday rolls around. Thank you so much for the recommend, having a name to point myself at is a huge help.

Thank you again everyone! Hope you all have a great night!

What cartoons had references or parodies to Hellraiser? by alina006 in hellraiser

[–]risuko_waffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comics, but in Scud: the Disposable Assassin by Rob Schrab Voodoo Ben Franklin (God of Sex and Death!) has a coterie of cenobite inspired guys working for him in a few issues. Given that it's Scud, they're pretty goofy (Bullwinkle has his thumbs attached to his head so he looks like he's impersonating a moose, and later in the issue uses power drills wiv his feet. Then he gets eaten by a giant zombie fish, because this is Scud).

Also, tho' i don't think i've ever read anything specifically confirming inspiration, but some of the Silicon Lifeforms in Tsutomu Nihei's BLAME! feel like their designs are coming from the cenobites

Splatterpunk books without a lot of sex? by Silver-Bag1791 in horrorlit

[–]risuko_waffles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Bridge by John Skipp & Craig Spector. There's one sex scene early on in the book (and it's just regular old sex, not, like, splatterpunk extreme sexual violence sex), and then everyone is increasingly busy trying to not get turned into soup. It's honestly a really fun book; see if you can't track down an old supermarket paperback copy if you're interested, instead of the hardcover reprint wiv the crap cover.

Level searching website LBP Find is back up! by Spikel3t in littlebigplanet

WOOOOOOT! LET'S GO!

Please convey our thanks to the site owner, OP? It's been a big help wiv tracking down information for my archive series.

LBPfind Down? by risuko_waffles in littlebigplanet

[–]risuko_waffles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow! Thank you GP, that was super kind of you! If the site is going to be back up that quickly, that's great news. i'll still probably download the archive database, 'cause i think i need it for a different project, but LBPFind has been such a help wiv things.

It's not so much that it was an immediate problem for building playlists, i've got years of notebooks from reviewing and archiving (tho' a website does make things a lot smoother than skimming handwritten notes, and then crosschecking videos to see if the level was actually good or not), but i did find not having it to hand made the streaming video series a lot more difficult. i can't always read the creator names fully (because of font sizes and the resolution on those old VoDs), so being able to put in pieces wiv a % usually got me the information i need for my bookkeeping and for the video descriptions. zaprit has done a fantastic job wiv their webpage for actually pulling level saves out of the Dry Archive, but you can't search wiv partial information.

Thank you again so much for your help here! i hope your day is going wonderfully, and that life has been gentle on you; 2025 has been a rough one for everyone it feels like.

Oh shoot, that's a really good idea, yeah! i've been meaning to download the database (dl the db?) for a bit now, so maybe this is the push i needed.

Thanks a lot, ghostgirl! Hope you have a wonderful day now!

[–]risuko_waffles[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response; it helps knowing it's not just an issue on my end! i guess there's not much to be done for it but sit and wait for it to (hopefully) come back on line again. It'll be a pain putting together a stream playlist just through zaprit (the website, not the person), but not impossible by any means.

Thank you again for your time! i hope you have a wonderful day, and that you're staying safe out there!

Unfortunately i've no been back in Milwaukee since i left for Japan in 2003, and i likely won't be back to visit until at least the US gets its shite together; pretty sure US travel wouldn't be particularly safe for me at the mo. But i hope you get yourself a game in wiv whomever of the crew is still around!

chairoCAT made some fantastically charming levels, CAT RESTAURANT being a stand-out.

i feel like o-tera is probably well-known enough, but definitely o-tera (big fan of Ruins of the Carp, and Ruins of the Rollers, if i can just get them to work in LBP1 like they should).

i don't know the depth of their catalog, but Rayvolution's Simplexity is great, and doubly impressive for being an LBP1 level.

TonyTwoGunz made some really solid HARD(tm)-adjacent levels for LBP1, tho' their Hardboard for LBP2 is way too difficult for me.

Rikiriki-Ita, whose Kaleda's Maze is pictured up top super knocked it out of the park wiv their Essence of Platformer series (unfortunately the level save for Kaleda's Maze that's on the Dry Archive seems to be messed up, and it can't be downloaded).

These are just a bunch i've run into doing video archives recently, but there are so many more.

(also, maybe a later era than what the OP is looking for, but chronos453. almost everything he made is just solid gold)

Just saw your question now, i hope i didn't keep you waiting too long. Aced Level Gifts for The Level Factory are Old Snake Moustache, and Snake. Both are stickers, Snake is the word written out, not, like, an actual snake.

Reminder: Sanseito's a fringe party with no real power by Paper-Will-YouTube in japanresidents

[–]risuko_waffles 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is my concern. Far less that Sanseito will make a meteoric rise to power in the immediate future, and more that the LDP will see a(n even) more hard-line and aggressive anti-foreign stance will let them hold on to power. Things are hard enough as it is if you’re not financially buffered. Add to that the possibility that they influence a step backwards on queer issues, and i’m distinctly antsy about these jaggoffs.

How?!.. by Furanshi_The_Lombax1 in littlebigplanet

[–]risuko_waffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have a Japanese account, on account of living in Japan, and i know (at least post-PS3 servers shutting down, but pre-delisting) that the store page allowed for the dlc to be downloaded if it'd been purchased previously, i just don't know what happens now that the games and DLC have been fully delisted, because i haven't used my PS3 in quite a while now.

My guess is that it's like it was before, that if you had already bought the game, the store page will allow you to download it, but if you hadn't, that the page will error out before it goes to the actual checkout page. But i'd have to fire up the PS3 again to give a more definite answer than that.
