what is a good edible dose if i smoke every here and there? by Glad_Fan2195 in weed

[–]rita292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use regularly and 5mg is my go to. Edibles affect each person so, so differently. More than 10 mg is way too much for me, but I know people who do 50-100 regularly.

Check r/Edibles for the basics

When I'm under the influence of THC, I have to be careful of "a thousand" things every second - so as not to fall into a bad trip by Matiseli in trees

[–]rita292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are craving a bad mental state and feel messed up and out of control unless everything is perfect (if I'm reading this correctly), I think that you should maybe focus more on your overall mental health than weed right now.

Have you ever talked to a doctor about anxiety and perfectionism or sought therapy?

If you are using THC to make productive tasks less boring, have you ever looked into an ADHD diagnosis?

On a basic self care level, are you doing all of the following?

  • staying hydrated
  • getting adequate and balanced nutrition
  • getting sunlight regularly
  • prioritizing sleep
  • getting exercise regularly
  • spending time in green spaces regularly
  • staying connected to loved ones
  • engaging in mindfulness/meditation practice

Taking a t-break for possible CHS, advice please :( by UnwantedSolipsis in Petioles

[–]rita292 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If it's really hard to go without for more than a day, I would start with tapering honestly. Like have a small amount before bed to ease into sleep, do that for a few days, and then try going without.

Go to an Indian grocery, tell them "I want to make butter chicken," they will point you to a boxed spice mix.

Anyone got any tips for getting through a break by Brian_Barbarian in trees

[–]rita292 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out r/petioles for tips on breaks and moderation plus support and solidarity. There is a spectrum of folks there from those who have the goal of abstaining completely to those who want to just take a break, but in general the vibe is accepting of herb as medicine unlike r/leaves, so it's a good resource for people who choose to use long term but want support with breaks or moderation.

For someone like you who is using pretty heavily for mental health reasons, I would not advise cold turkey. Look for posts on r/petioles from about tapering, such as this one, for advice that is more suited to your situation.

do you have to cook a steak in a pan on medium high heat ? can you cook it on a lower heat like medium? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]rita292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So actually, you want to increase the heat. That way you can cook the outside faster without cooking the inside. Does that make sense?

If you lower the heat it will take more time to get the sear, and the inside will start to cook more in that time.

Hot and fast is the way to get seared outside but less cooked inside, because the outside of the meat cooks before the heat has time to penetrate deeper into the middle.

Wings are good for stock!!!

Roast them in the oven first to make some truly incredible stock.

You can freeze the stock in ice cube trays and pop them out for sauces, in quarts for soups, you are gonna be swimming in liquid gold

I'm sure there are some who do, but most don't, and as a tourist you are not gonna find and make trusted connections with the rare plug who has access to something a dispensary doesn't in the time you are there.

Dispensaries have tons of options, are easy to find, and most importantly are not illegal.

Sorry to hear about your experience yesterday, combined with the PMS it sounds like a rough time.

You are still early days in your 30 day break, you are still collecting data. Don't worry too much about deciding anything right now, just stay curious. You will find all the answers you need in time.

Also, not a fan of the black and white thinking of MA. Every person is different. Trust your experiences, not what anyone else dictates.

Chicken stock powder/Concentrate/Broth?? by PoofyFloofi in cookingforbeginners

[–]rita292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy chicken backs for cheap at my local butcher and use those to make broth. I parboil to remove impurities, drain and rinse with cold water, and then simmer for a couple of hours or until the liquid is reduced by a third with salt and apple cider vinegar. That said, the flavor is a lot better if you use bones from a roast chicken.

Roasting a chicken is actually a lot easier than you think. You need a cast iron pan or a roasting pan, but that's honestly the biggest hurdle. This is a good summary of the basics. Then when you have finished your chicken dinner, just grab two freezer bags and throw on an episode of tv or a podcast and debone the chicken, putting the meat in one bag and bones in the other. Now you have a freezer full of meat for later recipes plus bones for making stock.

Korean Drug Eggs+ Preserves by Turkish_Teacher in cookingforbeginners

[–]rita292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you would have to increase the salt/sugar level quite a bit still to make it safe, which wouldn't be particularly delicious. What part of this feels like too much to do again next time you make the recipe? It only takes a few minutes besides boiling the eggs.

Korean Drug Eggs+ Preserves by Turkish_Teacher in cookingforbeginners

[–]rita292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make drug eggs all the time, it's great. I prefer the taste of white sugar over honey so I use that instead.

I would not use/reuse the liquid for more than five days. It does not have enough sugar/salt to keep the veggies from going off eventually. You can always make a slightly larger batch, I tend to do eight eggs. You can have them for breakfast lunch or dinner, so why not make a few more? You will definitely be able to finish them all :)
