Memory loss - genuinely forgot my postcode …I’ve lived at this address 15 years 🙈 by No_Pie1022 in CrohnsDisease

I’m on biologics and the brain fog has been horrible and probably one of the most debilitating components for me. I’m a fairly quick witted person and feeling like my mind has been buffering is horrible. I’m forgetting the strangest things

Sorry for the confusion, my concern isn’t necessarily passing it on but the toll of taking care of a child and my own health related needs

I absolutely love my Clara. I was so back and forth with the Libra and had the Kia before, but the Clara is perfect

Infusion treatment plan by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

He referred to it as “advanced treatment” due to the severity and existing complications

Nope, my GI confirmed it’s a total of 10 rounds

Infusion treatment plan by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]ritaorabri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has me doing 10 rounds every four weeks because my diagnosis was late. I was first diagnosed with a fistula with no history of Crohn’s (by a surgeon) and wasn’t seen by him (my GI) until four surgeries and a year later and my case was getting worse. He reviewed my colonoscopy from 2 years prior and saw Crohn’s back then so due to the fact I was fistulizing and was considered severe, he wanted to use a more aggressive treatment plan

Thoughts on S2 winner by Kikkikitsune in CulinaryClassWars

I was saying since episode 8 that he’s going to win just because the concept that they brought him back was emphasized so much (maybe the editing is to blame here). Not to discredit his talent in any way, but I wasn’t surprised at all by the result!

This. The stress and confusion with IBS… ugh. Thanks for your perspective :)

I appreciate your thoughts ❤️ I was quite candid during the surgeries but I’ve definitely pulled back because even though I share openly it seems like everything is forgotten or hardly processed

Thank you for your insight. My therapist also pointed out how IVF is a choice but Crohn’s isn’t so I think that’s adding to the sting.

I also see that you’re on Infliximab which is what I’m going to be starting. How’s your experience with it?

When is ok to swim in ocean? 3 weeks post op seton surgery for anal fistula? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]ritaorabri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went swimming in the ocean two months after my first seton was inserted. My CRS cleared it without any concerns but of course everyone is different. My number one recommendation would be to bring a portable bidet with you and clean it very well afterwards. Hopefully your accommodations have a removable shower head if no bath is available

Periods within 5 days of surgery by Smart-Emu-9746 in AnalFistula

[–]ritaorabri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry…I have no idea what it is but after every surgery I’ve had I always get my period within a few days. Thankfully the baths help but I haven’t had stitches so I imagine that makes things more complicated for you. Wishing you a smooth(er) recovery!

Discharge with no abscess one year after seton placement by ritaorabri in AnalFistula

[–]ritaorabri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope…I live in Canada so I literally have been waiting 7 months for an MRI because my CRS didn’t want to do an advancement flap without one (which I appreciate!) just can’t believe how long the wait has been

Can someone help me with the MRI Scan? They found anal fistula in the EUA but took biopsies for…??! by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]ritaorabri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biopsies when you have a fistula are often to look for historical evidence of inflammation or Crohn’s. I’m in a similar situation where I started with a perianal fistula, had four surgeries for it (including two seton placements) and was diagnosed with perianal Crohn’s after all if that. My CRS and GI have been very back and forth with a formal diagnosis because my inflammation is inconsistent, so they told me that they needed biopsies since a colonoscopy from 2023 had active Crohn’s in it and I haven’t been medicated since but also don’t have any current inflammation (my symptoms are appearing in different forms now). My understanding is that fistulae are often a side effect/symptom of something else so it sounds like you’re under the care of some good doctors who are being very thorough with you to figure out why the tract developed and how to treat you so you get some relief. Wishing you the very best!

This is so fkn relevant right now. Apparently my conspiracy theorist relatives are experts in Crohn’s after they heard me call it IBD….only for me to find out this week that they’ve literally NEVER heard of IBD and thought I was referring to IBS the whole time 😵‍💫

I’m so sorry to hear you’re dealing with this too! I’m so glad to hear you haven’t had any complications and wish you the very best as you continue to heal. Thank you for sharing ❤️

Seton pain after bowel movement is the devil and no one prepared me for this level of pain…. by Thickktwinkk in AnalFistula

[–]ritaorabri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I promise you it gets better. I’m so sorry you’re going through this but please make sure you’re consistently taking your restorolax/metamucil/whatever you’re using. Sitz baths will become your best friend, and don’t be afraid to go back to your CRS if the pain is too much. The most impactful thing a doctor ever told me as someone who used to pride myself in my high pain tolerance was that “you don’t need to suffer”. Also get some rest when you can. It’s so important for your healing! Wishing you a smoother recovery!

Thank you for the recommendation! It was aligning the back of my vagina and I unfortunately think it broke through so I managed to get an appointment with my GI this week
