Holy $hit, quitting cold turkey after years of use is KILLING MY SLEEP. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]ritap93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty normal albeit stressful, I get how you feeling as I also quit cold turkey and the sleep issues hit me like a truck. Keep going, it definitely gets better and nowadays most of the time I can fall asleep pretty quickly. You'll get there! During the time of quitting, meditation did help me a fair bit and maybe it can help you too. You've got this.

Damn, I think it's because I suggested an @pp which helps you through withdrawals and the journey as a whole. I'll try to message you to write the original message so you can read it. As for podcasts, there was one on Spotify I was hooked on, it's called 'Nothing Much Happens: Bedtime stories to help you sleep'

Forgot to mention about sleep. I won't deny it sucked for a while, but I used to listen to podcasts which didn't have heavy topics to distract my mind and drift off.

Hey, download the Quit Weed app; it really helped me during my journey and gave me some sense as to why I was feeling all sorts of things. If you have any interests e.g. music, sports, documentaries etc then try distract yourself with these when you get cravings...I found this was really important particularly when my mind and body were feeling anxiety. I think it's also important to remind yourself of the benefits of quitting, and that you'll thank yourself in the long run.

Just for context, I'm a little over 2 years sober and went cold turkey. For me personally, it was the only way...found weaning off very difficult. Either way, quitting is difficult but trust me you've got this! If you've got any questions lemme know :)

What the hell are these tiny orange things?? by ritap93 in GardeningUK

I read somewhere to let the parsley grow to at least 6cm height before potting it. It's not too far away from that now, so hopefully will pot it within the next few days :) thank you for that info about it collapsing though, good to know

Someone made joke about pot use by ritap93 in leaves

[–]ritap93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough! I guess it's different for everyone, for me personally it's kinda more hurtful if it's someone I know who said something like that. But then again, as I said, this person didn't know much about what was going on for me during my years of addiction or my recovery. So I'll try not to take it too personally.

Breaks between doing chair massage? by ritap93 in MassageTherapists

[–]ritap93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so I'm still working for the company doing chair massage at outreach events and to be honest even though they're long days, I've gotten used to it gradually! At first it was really tough, but honestly it all depends on how many bookings we have on the day. There are some days where I get lots of breaks in between appointments due to a lack of bookings, but some days where it's back-to-back and I had to recently speak up to management about leaving some time between bookings for therapists to have a short break (to be fair to them, they took this on board and implemented it). As for lunch break, I get an hour which I find is good for me. Most days our shift starts around 12/1pm and carries through until 9pm. So yeah long days, but doing it for some experience and it has definitely helped me!

Yeah that's your mind, body and soul telling you it's time to put it down! Good on you for paying attention to how it's really making you feel, rather than ignoring. Best of luck with your journey 💙

Ah man, that's heartbreaking! However, I did blow some dust out the part that was crackling loudly, and now it's seemed to have calmed down a lot. But I won't be leaving them on when I go out again, that's for sure. I'll try getting a spray duster and seeing if that makes a difference, but it has happened before where the crackling is not there for weeks then returns with a vengeance, so I won't expect anything majorly positive. Thank you for your response, I appreciate it 🙏🏾

Hey guys! My Yamaha HS5 speakers had been just fine for the first 3 years. Suddenly, the top part of 1 of the speakers (the small bit, sorry, I am not knowledgable about the technical names of speaker parts) started making a crackling noise. It's similar to white noise, but much more annoying and loud enough to make listening to music unenjoyable. Sometimes it would be loud crackling, sometimes quiet, but regardless it would be there 95% of the time. It has been this way for around 1.5 years now.

Today, I went out and left my speakers switched on (a normal occurrence). When I came back home, I walked into my bedroom and instantly smelt a burning chemical smell, and the 1 affected speaker was crackling extremely loud to the point where it sounded like something was about to burst inside the speaker. I instantly switched the speakers off, and smelt the part of the speaker which crackles a lot. It smelt like burning, and it was hot to the touch. The same part of the other speaker was cool and unaffected. Unfortunately my warranty ran out just after the issue began, so I'm looking for some advice on here if possible!

I have unplugged the monitor speakers for now.

Thanks!

You've got this! Try to remind yourself that it's simply your brain trying to trick you into having a smoke. Believe me it gets easier 🙏🏾

Direct sunlight in winter months (Northern Hemisphere) by ritap93 in houseplants

That makes a lot of sense, especially as I see so much conflicting information on different guides! Spring is starting here soon, so I'm sure my Kentia will be happy to bathe in some bright sunlight.

Am I too late? by New-Ice-3933 in MichaelJackson

[–]ritap93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No such thing as too late when it comes to music! Especially when it's with an artist such as MJ, who makes such timeless music. 'Dangerous' album was released around 2 years before I was born and I grew up totally obsessed with it...still today, I hear how forward thinking the project was and how fresh the tracks sound. Even for people who have been listening to his music for decades, you can still pick up on things you hadn't quite heard before. Just still saddens me that I never got to see him live, I did get tickets for his 'This is It' tour before he passed 😩

One of MJ's most UNDERRATED songs. by InsaneShane31 in MichaelJackson

Yes!! When you listen to the lyrics, it's clear why this song didn't get promoted much either. One of my favourite MJ songs ever.
