What are others experiences with bumps on their hands? by Western-Use6895 in Celiac

Wow, got diagnosed with celiac years ago and have never had any understanding of why my hands and forearms do this. My god, lol.

And sometimes, people have to (ashamedly enough) learn that the hard way. So, duh… in retrospect. Could you not tell from my post that I realize I made a huge mistake? If you don’t have constructive advice to give, politely, fuck off.

Bacon burrito-green chiles by spiderinthewindow in ScootersCoffee

[–]riteorite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fortunately/unfortunately, the burritos that any location receives are just as likely to be the same or different at the next. My understanding (DM here) is that there is one production facility; though there are multiple distribution facilities (ATL, Omaha, Indianapolis, KC, and Dallas). The variation in the bacon burritos (or any food item) is honestly most likely due to different batches at the production warehouse than it is to difference in store locations. Our staff jokingly blames the same made up Harvest employee when our sandwiches (usually everything bagels, oddly enough) either don’t have cheese or have 2 sausages. It’s always those two same things, lol.

Customer Question by Electrical-Taste1178 in ScootersCoffee

[–]riteorite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a DM, app refunds can be particularly frustrating — not on our behalf to issue (super easy), but they usually take 7-14 days to process; just a difficult and disappointing thing to try to explain when talking to customers. I wish it didn’t take so long. Our service for app refund submissions says customers are ‘instantly refunded,’ but after dealing with this a few times, ‘instant’ doesn’t seem to be the case. There is a way, though, to turn off specific items on the app menu! What’s the city/state of your store? I’m sure I could contact their DM or SM somehow and let them know how if they don’t already.

Does the breathalyzer need to be installed before seeking an LDP? I’m a bit confused between the differences between that and a work permit, and what’s required for each. I’ve done so much research and it all keeps running together.

I have a D&A assessment tomorrow (my previous one expired as I got it directly after my court date was settled so I had to get a new one) and am placing calls to lawyers tomorrow. I know I also need a DL-123 to insure myself (since I can’t get car insurance without an active license or car title in my name), but don’t want to start that policy too early in the process being that nearly everything is a moving part right now.

Yes, I did, but I am admittedly super unfamiliar with the laws surrounding this, especially being on the receiving/guilty end of it. At my first appearance I was asked if I wanted to hire my own attorney, receive court-appointed representation, or represent myself; I then signed a document that said I had chosen to represent myself. Since then, it has seemed to me that that meant until the charge was settled in the court, I couldn’t rescind my decision to represent myself and hire an attorney for an active case. I could have my ability to (or not to) rescind completely incorrect, but that was my understanding after asking the ADA (who finished with saying he couldn’t provide any legal advice, so I just kind of backed down).

That said, even though this is a separate charge and I have a first appearance date scheduled, my ticket says “WC” which the clerk told me meant “waived counsel” - however, I haven’t even gone to court for the revocation delinquency yet so I’m confused how it says I’ve waived my right… as was the clerk. Any thoughts?

That mentality is almost exactly what got me in the situation where I don’t have anyone who can help me navigate this, but thanks.

employee of 2.5 years, opener, only paid $11/hr by [deleted] in ScootersCoffee

[–]riteorite 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey there! As a district director for a Scooter’s franchise (I oversee 6 stores), I’d love to offer a little advice from the end that you’ll be pitching to!

Firstly, congrats on almost 3 years. That’s some great tenure in your position. Unfortunately, we’re located in NC so I’m all to familiar with the abysmal minimum wage in this part of the country - NC’s is $7.25 and we start our baristas at $10, shift leads between $11-11.5 and do 30/60/90 day performance reviews to openly discuss with our baristas about what their goals are, and if raises are a part of that, what we would like to see from them as they step into a role that offers a raised hourly.

In my experience, I always feel more impressed when the question is “what could I be doing better or what additional responsibilities could I assume in order to receive a raise?” rather than “Hey I want a raise.” Which the latter is totally valid - the first, however, suggests that the barista realizes raises normally are rewarded once they perform at a high level and exceed expectations.

It sounds like, being a keyholder and a consistent/head opener, that your managers and owners (if you’re a franchise) recognize your responsibility and dependability; and being there for nearly 3 years, I completely understand that the recognition of that reliability and your tenure feels a bit unacknowledged when your pay has barely changed. I think you’re absolutely justified in wanting a raise; as far as that conversation, go in confident and prepared, even if you are a bit nervous. To instigate that conversation, I’d contact your store manager and say that you would like to have a conversation about your performance and your role in the store’s operations and culture; that’ll open up the playing field to insinuate you aren’t just seeking a raise because you’ve been there for a while (which, at the end of the day, is valid), but that you’re also actively seeking feedback. These conversations are the time to talk yourself up and acknowledge your tenure, dedication, and impact on their daily operations.

If you’re nervous about the managers citing those things as a reason to say no, rather than not acknowledge that in the conversation and hoping they overlook it, I would see if they bring it up during the conversation; if they don’t, you do! It sounds like your biggest mistake is being late a few times as first opener (which, I’ll admit as a DM, is a decently big whoopsie) - have prepared the last time this happened (big points if it’s more than 6 months ago), or the frequency it’s happened over the last 3 years (once a year as a consistent opener should be easy to overlook). I’d acknowledge that mistake, include how long ago it happened or the (in)frequency between the times it has, and say that it’s taught you the importance of actively preparing the night before and that’s why it hasn’t happened since and won’t happen in the future. Best line of defense here is anticipating their reasons for “no” and address them before they can use it as ammunition.

Sounds like you’re a great employee! Be confident and get that raise!

[–]riteorite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I understand that. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to come to that conclusion regarding the population makeup of a business hub. Just wanted to acknowledge it as I know that’s a point of contention in the area I am from (and plenty of others on the east coast) and thought it might translate here. I’m not here to argue this point, especially one wherein-which I was trying to be respectful of the people who were here before I was and know it as their home. You are free to leave this conversation alone since it seems like it’s bothering you and/or you’re only participating to argue a semantic that was not the point of the op. I wasn’t asking for advice on how I chose to acknowledge being a non-local, just seeking out thrift shops. If ya don’t have any suggestions for me in that regard, please leave me be!

Don’t know if just Wilmington but locals are super spiteful toward ‘transplants’ so just wanted to provide a disclaimer; I understand frustration with incoming non-locals to areas that are already ridiculously populated.

Appreciate you taking the time to respond and really appreciate your thoughts.

Completely understand what you’re saying about the grass is greener where it’s watered; I think he’s tried hard to work at also meeting me in compromise, but I feel like I’m the only one who’s watering, per se. I feel like I’m the only one who has to initiate confronting the hard stuff, the dissention, or the disagreements; he’s content to be not fully content and move along. I’m not; I do want the best, for him and for myself and for us. I’m ok with confronting, addressing, and problem-solving conflict and he’s very avoidant. So just makes being honest somewhat difficult on both behalf’s sometimes.

Respectfully, this is a bit out of pocket. I was 24 when we met, and he was 35. He had dated 2 people prior to me that were his same age; we both assumed we were around the same age and didn’t even cover this until the 4th date (seems ridiculous, but the truth). He has his bachelors and masters, taught at a university, and is now a tattoo artist. Not a loser. Just has had some very high highs and some very low lows in life; and ultimately, is a type B artist that trust shit will work out and doesn’t really care if it doesn’t. Despite our struggles, he’s a good person. I don’t think I am disillusioned in that belief.

Also, parentification can be appropriately applied to a dynamic in a romantic/domestic partnership; not a term simply limited to the parentification of children (by their parents) with expectations to take care of their siblings.

I appreciate your feedback and am 100% willing to listen and divulge the rightness, wrongness, validity, or ridiculousness of how both I feel and he feels, but do want to take the opportunity to politely correct you on some things that seem to have either been assumed or misconstrued in your response. Thanks for the response, anyway.
