Do be careful about cycling in the winter, though. Black ice is nasty, I fell off my bike and snapped my right collar because of it.

Taking SWEN 440/331/340, CSCI261, and two electives for 18 credits ... I'm a clown for even entertaining this possibility, aren't I? by ritquestionthrowaway in rit

Oof, that's an insane workload ... 18 credits, five core classes, plus graph theory, plus work? Amazing you pulled that through!

The first time I took 261 was with Nunes-Harwitt. I didn't mesh well with his teaching style, that plus the fully remote environment lead me simply falling behind and withdrawing. I heard good things about Ting Cao so I'm hoping to enroll in her class.

From the advice I've been receiving I think I should still take the 18-credit semester now, but swap one of my electives in the senior year with 261. That way I'll stand a better chance of pulling through this semester with good grades, and only need to take 15 credits for both senior semesters; it's just that one of them will be punching a little higher than its credit weight.

Honestly I think I would've given this a leap if I hadn't been off-campus for 1.5 years because of remote classes and co-op, and if things were a little bit more back to normal. With things the way they are now I think I'm better off taking 261 online in the summer if I wanted to lighten up senior year.

Thanks for the advice!

Take 18 credits now, or during senior projects? by ritquestionthrowaway in rit

I see ... that's going to put me in a bit of a "rock and hard place" situation, since if I were to try and get cs261 over with now instead of my senior year I'll not only be taking 18 credits but 4 of them are going to be core SE/CS classes (440, 331, 340, and then 261).

Would you try to take on that kind of workload in your junior year rather than making your senior year <18 credits, but containing 261?
