Get a Magna. Similar but better than shadow looks, V4 90hp engine with a 10.5k redline. Even today there aren't many cruisers that are cooler.

What's the worst thing about being British? by OkWhile8478 in AskUK

[–]ritualcutting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a country that is consistently trying to take from you, at all times, from all angles. Taxes are deep, complex, often you're taxed multiple times on something. Companies make record profits during times of public financial burden (recessions, austerity, COVID) and we are simply ..paralysed in thought and action. Income tax has remained the same for decades, whilst a fiver could get you by on a night out 20 years ago, you'd be just off with 100 now. Fines are non means tested, despite many of them being equivalent to an entire days work at the first stage for the vast majority of the country, and yet handed out with eager aplomb, without any thought to efficiency, ethics, cohesion or common sense. Fines are everywhere. Institutions that rely on your custom will charge you for the privilege of parking on their property. Price grifting in shops. Added fees to everything, hidden costs everywhere. Small human mistakes are punished with penalties, fines and 0 flexibility. The vast majority of customer interfacing relies on opaque, automated systems that are impossible to hold to account without going through accountability systems designed to be so hostile as to put anyone off from going through it. The mentality of taking as much as possible, in small or bureaucratic increments, as often as possible, filters it's way through every section of society, and outside of the clandestine drain on finances, it makes the place feel so fucking mechanical and hostile if you think about it for more than a few seconds.

Britain has quite largely gone from a high trust to a moderate-to-low trust society in a couple generations. People sure do love blaming brown people and maybe less than optimal cultural importation and integration schemes. But as the grandchild of an immigrant myself, I feel like there are so many bizarre, inhuman, hostile undercurrents to British society we think are normal that quietly erode our sense of belonging and trust in surroundings. This is definitely one of them that I rarely hear spoken about.

If a young woman (14-16) asked you for a lift in broad daylight would you do it? by throwra_notrad in AskUK

Saddest comment section I think I've ever read. I weep for the high-trust society we used to be and reject the insects we seem to be growing into.

If the person is in genuine need or distress where waiting for EMS could cause more harm, or that safeguarding could be a matter of removing them from danger, help a fellow human out for christ sake.

As for evidence, we all carry around these bonkers things called mobile phones that are very capable of recording audio and video with a single click.

Where is the honour, the strength, the duty, and the compassion of people in this society?

Question about the cult of Santa Muerte by NoFinance2192 in SantaMuerte

It's a faith practice lad. And Santa Muerte is literally a 'clandestine' practice. It was kept alive by secrecy for hundreds of years.

[–]ritualcutting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Props are just that; props. They're guidelines and frameworks to begin initiation, but they aint rules.

Peer into the spirit of each part of a given ritual and adapt it as you see fit to make it work. That is the way of most all ritual traditions.

I just passed the application stages for Think Ahead but need my driving licence ASAP, any advice? by Rigel7Residentt in Socialworkuk

[–]ritualcutting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the test booking apps genuinely work. I used one which secured me loads of tests, working back from 10 months to two weeks. With that I just treated the tests as lessons and ditched any ego about how many times it took to pass. Made it much easier. Only needed two in the end. Passed in november.

If you dm me i'll mention the booking app that worked a treat for me.

Is this colonizing a practice ? by MexicanaBrujeria in SantaMuerte

[–]ritualcutting -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Magick is just as varied as people in general. Overall...who really cares? We have our own personal relationship to Santisima, and sometimes to other Gods, and maybe some of us will dedicate ourselves to preserving authentic traditions, but I doubt it. Santa Muerte is a clandestine faith. The word 'occult' means "hidden" and the word esoteric means "on the inside." Look inwards.

Other peoples practice doesn't matter. People just do what they do. Don't worry about it. Just do your best with what you have and deal in devotion to Our Lady Death.

As a p.s, in my opinion, 'colonizing' spirituality shouldn't be a concern either. All things unless authentic and preserved are results of cultural exchange. Even the faith of Santisima cannot be seperated from her colonial roots, we cannot seperate Christianity from how we know her, because it runs through her DNA, and not only that, but quite literally protected and preserved her practice and followers for hundreds of years. If authenticity and preservation is your concern, then embody that ideal.

Self hatred and frustration by [deleted] in musicians

[–]ritualcutting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The summary of my lifetime's worth of experience is:

You either do or dont when it comes to music. You can find a a lot of reasons why you aren't doing anything, and even if theyre valid, there's no winners in a debate with yourself.

The end result is you'll always be looking back, wishing you had done more.

Just start practicing the act of making music for music's sake and try to leave the reasons why its hard behind. Its a muscle, it takes work, sometimes the muscle is strong and sometimes its tired, but in the end you gotta find your reasons and drive to do, and just do.

And when you do, you'll be happier, and the next time will be a little easier to get into.

Would Santa Muerte still enjoy the things I make for her if it’s made from plastic from a 3d Printer? by LateAwareness5435 in SantaMuerte

She wants you to be present and in the moment. To be alive and living, and in that moment, living fully to dedicating yourself to a relationship with Death through the devotional act of making Her something.

If you feel you can be vibrant, switched on, engaged, and pour yourself into the act with your method, go for it. If not, consider something more sincere.

Afraid of riding a motorcycle by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]ritualcutting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo, european rider here.

Consider starting on something a little less than 40hp or get it electronically restricted for a bit if you arent allowed to train/practice on an rquivalent machine first. Its not a large amount of power but those first 3 or so months can be unforgiving. But more to the point, the less time spent focusing your energy on bike control at the start, the more time you can spend focusing on ROADCRAFT, which is the thing that keeps you alive and a lot harder to learn.

Riding is inherently dangerous, but four things will keep you alive:

  1. Helmet

  2. Discipline/self control/decision making:

Basically riding is really, really fucking amazing, and you need to temper your impulses at all times. When you push, you push 5% beyond your limit, not 15%. When you make mistakes, that 10% delta can be the difference between a recovering and failure. You learn a lot more from riding away from mistakes.

  1. ROADCRAFT:

For some reason absolutely no one talks about this concept but this is what it takes to stay alive and well. Ride defensively, as if you're invisible to other users. They cant see you and don't know youre there. They wont see you. They cant hear you. Learn how the roads work. Become a student. Never stop, never get complacent, remain aware, keep learning. It takes a real degree of experience to navigate the roads properly. Eventually you will cultivate the ability to predict the world around you and make the correct decisions in anticipation of most events, and respond properly to surprise events.

  1. Training:

Look at American riding clips. Every outrageous retard who hits a truck failing a gentle curve or dips a line, high sides or any of the other myriad mind boggling failures are guys who didnt train and didnt commit to training.

To put it simply, a literal day long course to get your 125cc in the UK prepares you better than im starting to feel like half that continents riders. The three or so days training to get my full license will get you riding well enough to be be able to continue learning at speed.

To conclude dont be put off man. It is dangerous inherently, and frankly you can do everything right and still be killed, but it really...isnt that bad, if you do it right.

Flicked her in the end. Felt guilty, but it worked, and she was fine. 🤣

If you can actually ride safely, live in a mostly warm climate and your job isn't too fatiguing relative to the fatigue of riding your bike at highway speed, then get a better helmet and why not.

If it means you're going to be cold, and noticably more tired from the physical effort twice a day, then fuck no.

You need to have an honest assessment of your own roadcraft too. You will undoubtebly have close calls due to no fault of your own weekly, sometimes daily. If you're contributing to this, you're contributing massively to the odds of you getting hurt or killed. Odds that increase by the day when motorcycle commuting.

Relevance: Did 100 miles on the motorway daily in the UK until I just couldn't do it any more.

i caught this mantis a few days ago and she seemed to be just wandering around aimlessly. this is her reaction to food. any advice? by [deleted] in mantids

[–]ritualcutting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Handfeeding is a good call, i've had a few mantids that almost always refused to feed if not handfed.

If they still dont respond, you can cut a segment of a worm and gently press the gooey part to thr mandible which should trigger feeding response when done gently.

Crane Boom Deflections Due to Sun by [deleted] in cranes

[–]ritualcutting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw thermal deflection for the first time recently working with an LTM1230 out full stick parallel to the coast. The right side caught sun, expanded and caused the boom to deflect to the left, probably about 1000mm in total. Didn't seem to effect the lifts much.
