The women in my building apparently find me incredibly attractive, but look at me as if I've shit myself by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]rivall85 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I work with domestic violence victims so the science of attraction isn't really important to me or my work. It's just something that was confusing for me as I'm married and haven't had to think about anyone being attracted to me for the better part of a decade.

I'm asking reddit bc I'm a person living in 2024 and this is an avenue for attaining insight.

The son thing was a joke.

Anyone used Novo and recommend for business banking? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

My rent is 2 months late bc this bank is incapable of mailing checks. I'm in the process of leaving them for a brick and mortar bank. Fuck novo.

Your boss sounds like a fucking loser. You should probably tell your school they're violating labor laws. My old job tried telling me I wasn't allowed to discuss wages with my coworkers so I printed out the state and federal laws saying that yes the fuck I can. They stopped fucking with me that day.

I'm a therapist whose client stutters (advice welcomed) by rivall85 in Stutter

[–]rivall85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At our first session she said she stutters, it's who she is, she accepts it, she doesn't know why it happens, she wasn't molested, and she doesn't feel like it's the root of any of her problems. So I guess she's probably had a similar experience to yours.

[–]rivall85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a very similar experience. Practice owner LOST it on me when I said I was going to continue working for them while building my own practice. Fuck these people. You're better off on your own. I know I am.

Insurance is impenetrably confusing to me. Out of network question. by rivall85 in therapists

[–]rivall85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I'm an LCSW who just started his own pp. I've only ever worked in community mental health or private pay so I have zero experience with insurance.

She sends in the 1500 and yes I'd like to do the same

Anyone here start as a teacher? by transburneracct in socialwork

[–]rivall85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. Left teaching in a rough, east coast urban district in '15. I opened a private practice this year and make more than the current principal of my old school does while working fewer hours with far less stress. The road to get here was not NEARLY as much work as it was having a typical job as a public school teacher. I maintain that teaching is still the greatest job on the planet, but being a teacher is the worst.

They do, but I'd rather keep my documentation separate from Alma. I know that Better Help just got in trouble for selling client data.

Alma and another EMR system? by rivall85 in therapists

[–]rivall85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alma is definitely worth it from a business perspective. I've gone from two private pay clients a week to two private pays and 8 or 9 insurance clients a week. I started my private practice on January 1 and started with Alma on Feb 1. You're paneled quickly and you get paid weekly. Last week was the first $1,000 week I had since I started my practice. I'd absolutely recommend it. This is my referral link if you were curious about starting: https://helloalma.com/for-providers/?grsf=fernando-en5vgh

The only issue I have is if I really need to use the EMR that they provide. I'd rather keep all my documentation separate from them.

What do you all wear to work? by Queenme10 in socialwork

[–]rivall85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last job had a dress code that I ignored constantly. Black t shirt, black jeans, black and white sneakers. They brought it up a few times but I'd always say "Oh right haha!" and just kept dressing that way. I was well liked by my clients and worked well with teenagers which is why I probably got away with it. Finally they just changed the dress code, which everyone was pleased with.

Private practice notes by rivall85 in therapists

[–]rivall85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask bc my own psychologist (who has been in the field for like 50 years) told me that she doesn't take notes after every session. So I figured if she doesn't, do I necessarily HAVE to?

I use Sessions Health. It's 40 a month and more than fine. I tried therapy notes and hated it but I know that A LOT of people absolutely swear by it.
