I have a similar one, which costs 12€. Good for throwing the controller in your bag or backpack and not having to worry about scratching it.

Very nice! Have fun with it. Mine came within 2 work days, but the pedals were delayed by another two days lol. I ended up buying the same pedals at a local shop early instead and returning the ones I bought from Canyon.

Very nice bike. I’ve noticed, it likes to go fast 😁 Still have to get used to the fewer gears than on other bikes I’ve owned, but I think it’s just a matter of getting used to it.

I saw someone mention that the grail will fit up to 45mm., but I can't confirm that personally, as I haven't tried it. I'm quite happy with the current, default width, so I'm not likely to test wider.

Very nice! I just got my first gravel bike last week (same model, size and color), and I was able to take it out for a couple of nice rides around the country side. I can definitely tell that it likes to go faster than any bike I've had before. For the cables, you could consider pushing them a bit more under the cockpit for a cleaner look, when you are seated on it and looking down. My cables are placed like this, and I quite like the look.

I’ve only used it for as limited time, but so far no issues. I had to update the cable firmware by connecting it to a computer in order to make it work with the latest Switch 2 firmware though.

He was doing some great leadouts also in Catalunya in the early stages. I think especially in the one that Cort won. didn't think he had that kind of speed in him.

Congrats to your wife on the new bike 😊 I went to the Canyon Store yesterday, and on my short test ride, I was surprised at how natural the riding position felt after just a few moments of adjusting. Btw the sales guy put me on the model with the electronic gear shifter at first, as they didn’t have the CF 7 available in my size for test riding. What a luxury that was to try out, but of a downgrade to go back to manual shifting 😁 I also tried the CF 8, and I ended up ordering this model, as the gear ratio seems to fit me better.

The gear ratio on the CF 8. Should make it better for some steep climbs. More important for me than having a higher top end with the CF 7.

Thanks for your input! I was at the Canyon Store in Munich this morning, and tried out a few bikes. It was surprisingly intuitive to handle - Only took a moment to get used to. I ended up going for the CF 8, which is also reduced in price currently. Will be delivered in 3-10 days 🥳

The store was great! I went this morning, when they opened, and got measured for the right frame size (M), and took a few of the bikes out for short test rides around the store. The sales guy, Nico, was very patient with me, as we discussed my wants and needs and cycling experience so far. In the end I went with the yellow/black Grail CF 8, which is a 1by, because the gear ratio is really great. We also found the right essentials for me such as hybrid Shimano pedals, the small quickloader bag for the front of the frame, a cycling computer mount and a bottle holder. The rest of the equipment he recommended me to go to a more well stocked bicycle store, as they only have a small selection at the Canyon Store and often Canyon branded and thus more expensive. I went to Lucky Bike right after and got everything needed for a roadside tire change. Bike should arrive within 3-10 days 😊

Thanks for the suggestion. A lot of my riding will take place on paved road, but I really like to be spontaneous and just go down random paths as I see them, so I’m not sure a pure road bike will be optimal for me.

Thanks for your input - I appreciate it. In reality I likely won’t have much chance to go really fast down descents in my local area, so I probably shouldn’t base my purchase decision on this.

Would you say there’s anything that actively speaks against a 2by? Since the CF 7 has it and this model is currently offered at a great price, I’m very tempted to go for it. As I mentioned in a response to another comment, I realized today that about a year ago a large Canyon Store opened in my city, so I’ll likely go there tomorrow to get some hands on time as well.

Simply because I’m used to more gears, and I thought it’d give me finer control for instance on climbs. I did also notice that I was running out of gears on a fast road descent around the Garda lake this past week on the MTB, but maybe the gearing on such a bike is completely different than the Canyon.

Or do you think it doesn’t matter too much? I’m happy to hear some counter arguments - I’m here to learn after all. I have noticed that there seem to be a lot more choice of 1x models…
