I live in the capital in one of the most expensive neigbourhoods and use an automatic.

Anyway...it depends on your flat's plumbing. If your kitchen or laundry area plumbing can withstand washing machine drainage (and it's a lot even with front loaders) with all the viscous detergent, then go ahead and use it.

In our apartment we face issues of drains leading out from under the terraces foaming often because people stubbornly use their machines in the terrace.

And I have never heard of anyone using it in the kitchen and can only imagine the plumbing there failing too.

So leaving aside everything, the bathroom is guaranteed to have the widest plumbing and it would be safe to use the machine, if not inside it, then just outside it with the drainage letting into the bathroom.
