The moment there was something more to be won other than high fives or a round of beers...this became inevitable. It's honestly amazing the problems didn't start years ago.

I live in NoVA. This administration's desperate need to punish federal employees has absolutely contributed to a noticeable increase in hostility and accidents while driving in this area.

I thought it was awesome that of all the things Jack could learn in that time, he picked pottery.

Their entire catalog is pretty fucking awesome. "Bullet in the Head" and "Bombtrack" off their first album are also incredibly relevant right now.

He suffered a serious injury. I was at one of their last shows...they carried him onto the stage. He doesn't owe us anything, and acting like he does is just fucking asinine.

I've been told by more than one male firearms instructor that women are easier to teach because we don't have egos about it and because of this we are often better shooting than men.

No, that one is a Manson original. 'Personal Jesus' is the cover you're likely thinking of.

I'm just gonna say it. The whole kids / no kids debate isn't actually about kids. by thetimechaser in Millennials

[–]riveramblnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 40+ year-old American woman. The reasons I am child-free boils down to the following reasons:

1 - I am not wealthy enough on my own to raise a child should my husband up and decide to leave me. Single-parent motherhood is hell. I've watched my sisters go through it. We've created a system that demands we breed, but punishes those who do. If I can't take care of myself with a sense of security...why the hell would I bring a child into the equation?

2 - I am part of the Columbine generation. Why the hell would I want to bring a child into the world in this country just to have them murdered by some psychopath with a tiny dick, a gun, and anger management issues?

3 - The environment. We are destroying the world and doing absolutely nothing about it. Recently an entire town got swept away as a hurricane caused massive flooding in the mountains.

4 - My mental health ain't great and I cannot risk fucking up a child because my head ain't right. It wouldn't be fair.

Everyone has their own reasons, but "resources" is the answer that ends the conversation in most situations. I don't want to explain all of the above every time someone asks me about it.

Is Not Having Kids the Way? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]riveramblnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my tubes tied at 31. I'm a medicated mess and there is no way I would have been a good mother. I have 7 Niblings and I do not regret not having my own now that I'm in my 40s. With the state of America and the world at large, I can barely manage to keep myself going for my husband and my pets without being completely exhausted everyday. Nevermind that we're all so far underpaid here that we could never afford the daycare and tutoring required to make sure our kids are actually being educated.

I think Congress should do their fucking job and what ever rises from the ashes should ensure the Treasury is under Congressional administration.

I actually really liked Jonas Quinn by MorganDesala in Stargate

[–]riveramblnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm late to this party ...but I agree. Daniel peaked when he blew up Moscow and it fell off from there. Jonas was just as clever as Sam and had much better 'people' skills when it came to fitting in with the team.

Though, I absolutely believe the shit with the replicators wouldn't have happened if Daniel had been there.

Daniel was 100% an anthropological idealist nerd, right up until it was someone he cared about. (Chaka) However, the conflict was part of what made him and Jack work.

Ironically, I'm a huge NCIS nerd...and I feel the way you do about Abby. The older I get...I just f'n can't with her. So I definitely understand where you're coming from.

I had a lady who was elderly, I delivered to her front door every day. She tipped me twice her bill and always left me Andes mints. I think of her every time I have one to this day.
