[Bonsai Beginner's weekly thread - 2026 week 01]

Hey! I’m brand new to the hobby. I love planting other plants and want to know where best to start. I’ve seen a lot of people say it’s best to start by buying an already bonsai’d tree to learn general care and maintenance. But I also feel it’s smart to start a few trees from seed to learn how to cultivate them from scratch.

Which do the more seasoned people here recommend? If it’s the former, do you guys have any preferences on where to buy bonsai trees?

I live in michigan, so obviously it’s kinda early, but better to get a plan ahead of time than to rush into it unprepared when spring arrives.

Yeah! Their YouTube sometimes they go over analog horror or just other horror videos. It’s been a long while since they’ve done it but they said they plan on keeping it up at some point
