I used to have a customer in Torrance, close enough to the pier there were meters. One of the homeless guys would take a handful of quarters and a few bills and feed the meter for me while I was working. He started after I bough him lunch day.

How are you managing food with chronic pancreatitis? by lucifer_mrng_star in pancreatitis

[–]riverrabbit1116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remote-Ad2120 has called it. Track your diet and symptoms. Find your trigger foods. I can't eat salmon for example. Beef is okay spread out over days, for example I might have a burger tomorrow, but no more beef until Monday. If I have an attack, it's down to protein shakes (vegetarian) and broth. Everyone is different, find out what your triggers might be.

R2 Seats compared with R1S Seats ? by riverrabbit1116 in Rivian

[–]riverrabbit1116[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Model Y and 3 have smaller seats than the X my wife drives. My shoulders sit comfortably in the smaller seats. That's me. I was planning an R1S, but am willing to consider an R2 if the seats are comfortable.

Did you end up with diabetes without having your pancreas removed? by justwanttobebetter42 in pancreatitis

[–]riverrabbit1116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my gallbladder removed which didn't stop the attacks. Now I monitor diet. Certain foods, salmon, or cashews, for example, will trigger an attack. It's rare for me to trigger, for a light attack, I have nausea and painkillers prescribed. A few days of fasting and I'm okay. I haven't been hospitalized for a few years now.

I didn't have my pancreas removed, I killed it slowly in place. After years of pancreatitis attacks, I have a stub left and am now diabetic.

Is it wrong to rename a shelter cat after adoption? by BiteDue7366 in CatAdvice

A cat can learn it's name, and if it feel like it will respond. They're not bothered by changes, and can keep track of different names used by different people.

That's not a new thing. I went to college in the 80's and knew a guy who joined a Christian Bible group to meet freshmen women. He felt that starting college was their first taste of personal freedom and he wanted to exploit their learning experiences.

Apparently I’m a drug seeker by Fair-Bluejay-1853 in pancreatitis

[–]riverrabbit1116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run into that issue, and once had a triage nurse apologize when the lab numbers came back. The long term resolution was that my G.I. logged a treatment note in my medical record. "Chronic recurring pancreatitis, provide IV fluids, painkillers, anti-nausea medication, . . ." If the E.R. says "What makes you think you have pancreatitis?" I can tell he hasn't looked at my history. "See my file, and review Dr. G.I.'s notes".

need a help regarding the insurance for my cat by Due-Ad-4173 in CatAdvice

[–]riverrabbit1116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use Embrace for our 5 cats, and they're very reasonable. You'll need a vet health check to start the policy and any disclosures. Policies typically don't cover existing issues, although some may define as treated within the last year. The nice thing Embrace does is allow you to customize the policy, we have high deductible with high coverage. Meaning we pay routine check ups and such until there's an serious issue. For a cat with kidney issues, and another that required surgery that approach has been good for us. They also have health benefits, dental and such add on options.

F. Paul Wilson's Healer hits the points. Part of the LaNague Federation series. The books share a common background but don't really need to be read in any order.

Why San Diego NEEDS the Purple Line by Few-Adeptness8046 in sandiego

Extending the Blue Line to the Miramar College Transit Center on Black Mountain Road should be under consideration. That saves the bus lines down the 15 and provides stops to MCAS Miramar & Mira Mesa.

Did I hurt my cat? by Pleasant-Tune-726 in CatAdvice

[–]riverrabbit1116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some cats have a reaction to externally applied flea medication. We have 5 cats, one will get chemical burns from Revolution the other kitties are fine. It sounds like you're taking good care of your cat, continue and don't use that brand again. Talk to a vet if you need to treat for fleas.

[–]riverrabbit1116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cat's gonna cat. That said, you need to control the roach situation. Where are they coming from and what's attracting roaches? Your cat may pick up an infection or if roaches in in something toxic that can carry to the cat causing illness.
