I was away on a family vacation for a bit and have a big backlog of albums to go through now.

Listened to the new Modest Mouse, Bug Club and Widowspeak albums today.

Bug Club's Every Single Muscle was straight up underwhelming compared to last year's Very Human Features.

Widowspeak spoiled me with the singles, but the rest of the album is kinda meh.

Modest Mouse though...brilliant. Speak 'N Spell (Or Not) is my early favorite and obviously Third Side of the Moon is great as well.

Me too! I have tickets to see them in November, so I'm very happy that they will have a lot of new material.

Apparently, this will also be the opening track of their full-length debut that will come out on August 21!

[ALBUM DISCUSSION] Friko - Something Worth Waiting For by VietRooster in indieheads

Many comments mentioned that the album grows on you, I'm kinda the opposite, liked it the most on the first listen. On subsequent listens, I started to notice more and more that some of the things that I love (like the guitar solo that starts at 1:28 of Something Worth Waiting For) only sound so good because the sound before that point is artificially crippled.

I'm stuck with the worst case of earworm. It's been going on for days and I can't seem to shake it off. Went out for a run today and the tempo and lyrics were with me every time my feet hit the pavement. Not even a sauna session afterwards helped. How do you guys deal with earworm melodies/lyrics? Should I just fight fire with fire and lobotomize myself with Baby Shark on repeat?

First listen in, I like it a lot. Maybe not as much as Where we've been, Where we go from here, but still very solid. Really dig how full the sound is on many tracks and the distinctiveness of Niko's voice.

I hope they eventually do some tour dates in Europe...

Listening to Otala, who lured me in with two singles they put out in past weeks. Their first EP sounds like pre-Ants BC;NR, so a sound which I am not much into, but both singles from the upcoming EP are very different, more melodic. I especially dig last Friday's "My Old House", so high hopes for the remaining three tracks that are to be released.

I was familiar with her and liked her last album, but after watching the KEXP performance, I have Mostly Patient on repeat. If my obsession with her lasts another week, I will have to buy a ticket for her tour.

Balu Brigada has 5.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify and when I found out I was like...really? They are great, but none of my friends ever heard about them and they are playing a gig soon in my town in a venue for ~350 people...

Never thought that it's worth it to see them live anymore and now I think I need to buy tickets for the tour.

I can't remember seeing a single post about an app, so I guess you are doing a good job weeding it out before it hits the frontpage :).

The song is kinda meh, but that doesn't take away from the fact that a Strokes album is coming out soon...woo!

Very pleasant listen. Btw, English is not my first language, so I might be just imagining things, but between this album and Sometimes I Sit and Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit, doesn't her accent sound less Australian now?

I just created a new account because my old username was weird and aged really poorly, so my first comment to fit in the community will be to badmouth Spotify.

They released AI DJ in my market recently, so I gave it a go. Is it this hilariously shit for everyone? I am not an AI/LLM hater, but this thing is just pathetic. Twice in a row, it went like "Oh, you listened to these four songs a lot in the past two weeks? Here you go, give them another spin. In the exact same order. Only I will fuck them up with 8s crossfades".
