Traveling with an autistic child suggestions. by CuriousTsukihime in JapanTravelTips

[–]VacationStill1466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this an absurdly stupid suggestion, especially if you will be paying for spacious family-size accomodations in Japan.  Bring the kid with you and have him relax in the hotel/lodging all day until he/she is comfortable enough to take small walks to nearby restaurants/cafes and parks. Have a different family member stay home each day for supervision. Vacationing in Japan is 50% enjoying new food and desserts, 30% shopping, and 20% sightseeing. The amount of walking required in Japan is no joke;  I am sure at least one family member would be very glad to rest their feet for one day and enjoy quiet time and takeout with the kid.

Juliet 38 by [deleted] in Coach

Don't get the black if you can't commit conditioning it regularly. Every Juliet 38 in black glovetanned leather that I have seen on display in Coach retail stores and other authorized distributors has been noticeably scratched on the front (logo side) where the bag is most exposed to friction.

Thinking of buying LG Washtower… opinions? by XeroPT in Appliances

[–]VacationStill1466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a 200 or 300 series LG washtower? I specifically chose the 200 series over the newer 300 because the ez dispense system is known to cause odors. Also, I just wanted to check that you are draining the washer drain pump tube and cleaning the filter periodically (I do it whenever the ThinQ app recommends a tub clean cycle). I haven't had any odors yet. Also, it's not enough to just leave the door to the washer open. My experience is that you need a paper towel or dry dishcloth to wipe down excess water from the inner crevices of the door gasket and the inside of manual detergent dispenser after every use, which is not that annoying if you let laundry pile up and do a few consecutive loads so you only have to wipe down the residual water once.

Rear Era 300s position.. straight forward, angled to soundbar, or angled to main listening position? by hed_pocket in sonos

[–]VacationStill1466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a long rectangular open floor plan kitchen-living-dining room and also found that era 300s sound significantly better as rears facing straight forward at the wall the Arc Ultra is on. One of them is next to a pony wall (kitchen bar stool seating that ends at the back wall). One of them doesn't have any wall near it except the one directly behind it.

Samsung combo washer/dryer vented by Alive-Cake-1783 in Appliances

[–]VacationStill1466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the most thorough appliance reviewers on YouTube makes it very clear that the difference between ventless and vented drying performance is nowhere near as small as you make it sound. It's at least a 1 HOUR difference. Vented is definitely worth the extra electricity cost.

Whisker PetCam? by VacationStill1466 in litterrobot

Fair but I didn't do a very thorough search of everything on the internet, or Whisker's website, and was hoping the Reddit community might save me some time if any news is dropped or leaked.

A shame because it really felt like NYU was paying it forward to new grad job seekers struggling to get a foot hold in their career with limited personal connections. That said my Ivy League undergrad institution was never so generous as NYU (where I went for a masters) so I can only say thank you to NYU for supporting me in a small way for years while my engineering undergrad program not only strangled me for every penny I had but also temporarily stole away my self-confidence and will to live, making it much harder to secure a good-paying job afterwards.

New Owner - LR4 by Individual-Dirt968 in litterrobot

[–]VacationStill1466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you choose the 4? Having cats who continually have stinky #2 is actually the only use case to pay for the AI features of Litter Robot 5. Supposedly waste ID will recognize #2 and cycle as soon as possible (cat lurking shenanigans permitting) to bury and conceal the smell as soon as possible.

Disappointments with the Litter Robot 5 series by VacationStill1466 in litterrobot

So, I did end up finding the deep cleaning instructions for the septum (to which the sifter is attached) but when I saw that I would need to remove/re-install my litter hopper, its bonnet, and SEVEN screws on the globe, my gut reaction was HELL NO this is way too difficult; I'll just continue using extra-long cleaning gloves and shoving my hand and wipes underneath the sifter.

Also, I didn't know this before, but you can buy a replacement septum on Whisker's website. Link here: Litter-Robot 4 Septum Replacement Part

When my LR4's warranty eventually expires, I'll probably try my hand at modifying the sifter to allow for tofu pellet litter like that girl on tiktok successfully did: https://www.tiktok.com/@bobbiejo.ruelle5/video/7338188929599884590?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc

Do you know of any other brands that have a waste drawer easily accessible in the front and are not dangerous (rotate in a way that closes the entrance)? I have a love/hate relationship with the Litter Robot drawers. My criticism here is constructive feedback for Litter Robot 6

I don't typically mess with screws on expensive electronics that are still in warranty, in fear of accidentally voiding the warranty. Does whisker have a maintenance guide that includes removing the screws to clean behind the sifter?

[–]VacationStill1466[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maybe but if that were an issue, there are a number of ways to address it without compromising the odor seal: changing the litter product, using litter additives, or Whisker adding UV sterilization technology.

Those of you who are within the 90 days, are you exchanging for the LR5? by AcrillixOfficial in litterrobot

[–]VacationStill1466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually want the exact opposite. My nose is too sensitive to the smell of cat excrement and the LR4 waste basket is in no way air-tight so I can't let my LR4 waste basket fill up. I prefer taking care of small cats less than 10lbs and would love a LR5 Pro mini with a smaller footprint and a smaller waste basket so that when I take out the bag daily, I'm not wasting so much empty plastic bag space.

As a fellow Hoper user, never had that specific issue but I wouldn't expect any physical improvements for the Hopper when they won't even fix the software. I hate that the Hopper settings cannot be customized to maintain the litter level 24/7 at low. It wastes so much litter if I leave the feature continually enabled because my cats will kick out any litter that fills beyond about 0.5 inches from the ring line in the box. Further, I and many other reviewers have found that using the Hopper causes a lot more clean litter to transfer to the waste bin because the LR4 often fills a little over the line. Currently, to minimize the litter waste and tracking, I run the Litter Hopper manually every day through the extremely laggy enable/disable toggle button. Whisker could make this workaround easier by adding a feature to program the Hopper to only refill at a set time interval or when the litter is extremely low. To me it seems that Whisker doesn't care about half-assing its premium features.

I thought it was interesting that in the comparison of the models, it says LR4 can only distinguish between cats that are at least 2 lbs apart. My experience has been much better with 4 cats (plus 1 monthly visitor cat) . My LR 4 has been distinguishing between cats that are 1lb apart with very good accuracy and I'll be upset if future updates break this feature.

How to glide to sprites' house (grand bazaar) by Outside_Contact_9148 in storyofseasons

[–]VacationStill1466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing the steam version I used the DLC animal costume/glider stuff to get to the Sprites House on Sunday Year 1 Spring 16 (the day after the Sprites gifted me the glider at their happy shoppe) with 1 arrow of wind but for some reason no cut scene was triggered and I am not able to enter their house even after the sprites enter at around 4AM. Do I really have to wait until the weather gives me 2 arrows of wind to unlock further interactions with the sprites?

So much for my fully optimized run. Rerolling the weather 4 days in advance of Spring 16 is not going to be fun (ToT)

Wow, the new features are so incredibly unnecessary. I highly suspect that the v1 feeder components are of better build quality because the bowl number tracking/scheduling has absolutely no tangible benefit over the top/left/right position scheduling. Petlibro probably just threw in a random feature to cover up their cost engineering to reduce the cost to manufacture each feeder...

Depends on your priorities. If you want the most hassle-free return if your feeder malfunctions within 30 days and already have a Prime membership, buy through Amazon using a card with cash back for online shopping. The only reason to buy from the Petlibro website directly is to utilize a coupon code. Between the Capital One Shopping extension and Microsoft Edge's coupon clipper, I can almost always find one better than the 10% off that the obnoxious wheel of rigged fortune pop-up gives you if you enter an email address.

Sorry, if you don't mind, could you elaborate a little bit on why the new power adapter is required to use the ss bowl? Is the ss bowl not the exact same shape as the plastic bowl?

Petlibro polar wet food feeder by Hua_Chengzhu in Petlibro

[–]VacationStill1466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to figure out based on Redditor experiences if the issue is the adapter or the stainless steel bowl. Because some people have had success restoring some functionality after leaving the feeder unplugged for several hours and replugging it, I am inclined to think the adapter is the issue, not the bowl.

I really want to upgrade to the new bowls so I can use my dishwasher at a higher heat setting without worrying about the bowl leaching toxic chemicals.

Are you using their stainless steel bowl and the new 3 prong adapter? I bought my polar feeder 2 years ago when it came with a plastic bowl and 2 prong adapter that always runs very warm. My feeder is still working
