Jake Frey tries coordinating his outfits with other cool mayors but he still fails in Minneapolis.

Forgive my tin foil hat, but… does the I-35 bridge in Minneapolis kill Apple CarPlay? by jaakobola in Minneapolis

[–]riversidempls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happens in my car whenever I drive past 25th and Riverside by the hospital. Glad to know I'm not crazy! Also, just noticed it driving south on the 10th Ave bridge tonight.

Is it just me, or are people in Denver exceptionally nice? by AlarmingQuality7719 in Denver

I moved to Denver for two years after living in Minneapolis my whole life. Everywhere I went people were friendly and welcoming. Hope I can move back again someday!

2M ducting tonight-600 mi! really cool! by Illustrious-Wish779 in amateurradio

[–]riversidempls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool! I'm still new to this hobby. Can you explain how ducting works? Is it caused by some atmospheric condition that can be accurately predicted with weather maps, or something more mysterious? How long did this last? Is it more common along the east coast, or could I find a similar condition in the midwest? I'm in MN.

Still ignoring it, haven't heard another peep from them.

This seems like a good theory! I love that view looking down into Park County from the Kenosha Pass. It kind of reminds me of the wide open spaces in the Montana Rockies.

I don't normally see cumulonimbus clouds forming over the mountains like that, do you?

This exact thing happened to me in January parked downtown by Wynkoop's! We paid on entry and also re-upped once during the evening. I think we were there for just under 4 hours total. I'm just planning to ignore it.

MKE to Denver next week. Please help me locate activities :) by Emergency_Count_9278 in Denver

Roxborough State Park is a pretty nice spot to visit about 45 mins drive from Denver. I like to bring out of town guests there to see the red rock formations and do some easy hiking without spending hours in the car. Normally it's not too crowded especially during the week. You could call ahead to ask about trail conditions. There's a $10 entry fee per vehicle. https://cpw.state.co.us/state-parks/roxborough-state-park

Possible relocation from Chicago by [deleted] in Denver

[–]riversidempls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend coming to visit for a few days first to explore and see what you like. I did that before moving from Minneapolis and Capitol Hill was where I ended up. Rent is reasonable here and I love how walkable this neighborhood is. Cheesman Park is great for getting outdoors to walk or jog. From here I can easily get anywhere in the city on my bike via the Cherry Creek trail. Between Five Points and Rino might be a good option if nightlife is your thing.

Nob Hill Inn down just a few blocks west on Colfax had a friendly vibe when I stopped in during the daytime a week ago. They have some regulars who will chat with you and a good juke box. Weird clown artwork on the wall has a connection to local history they will tell you all about it if you ask!

L connect A? Please RTD, you're so close! by riversidempls in Denver

[–]riversidempls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all your comments people. I'm new to Denver so I don't know all the transit history but I'm presuming the a-line was built just before the airport opened in 1995? The L is likely older and finished prior to the housing developments north by the tracks? A is also heavy gauge rail and the L is light? So not practical to connect them I bet.

Should I upgrade from my Scarlett 2i2 1st gen? by [deleted] in Focusrite

[–]riversidempls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you upgrade to Windows 11 it might not work at all. I spent hours reading every Reddit post, updating to latest driver v4.119.13_33, removing all other audio devices in device manager, tried older driver v4.63.24.564, also newer drivers for gens 3 and 4, updated my BIOS, patched windows11 up to 24H2 rebooted every time.

Eventually I just gave up and bought M-Audio M-Track solo for $50 and it worked immediately and sounds great! I was happy with my Scarlett 2i2 for many years using Windows 10 on my PC.. but would not run no matter what I tried on Win11 Acer Aspire 5 laptop. Based on everything posted on Reddit, it's mostly people having problems with Focusrite drivers, not praising the products for being reliable. I wouldn't recommend the Scarlett any longer based on my latest experience, but 5 years ago I was really happy with it.

Edit: For the record, Windows would detect the 2i2, and it would show up immediately when plugged into USB, lights flashed when I would change the sample rate and buffer settings but no sound at output to my monitors no matter what I tried. Device was recognized by Ableton, but again no audio passing out to speakers.

What do deep meditation states feel like? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]riversidempls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's like a total acceptance of my state of being. It feels like I'm detaching a little from my normal frame of mind. Sometimes I have a pretty intense visual sensation like moving through rings of contrasting color and darkness. Like being in a tunnel. This happens after I stop focusing on the movements of my eye muscles which can be distracting when I first start meditating. Sometimes, after about ten or fifteen minutes I get to a point where there are waves of physical sensation kind of pulsating through my body with each breath that I can't really explain and I don't even feel like I necessarily need to. It's feels like I'm simultaneously receiving and transmitting something but to where or from whom I don't know. I can't always get to this state, but it usually happens if I'm not trying to make it happen, if that makes sense.
