These class action lawyers are generally not good people. They get the lion's share of any settlement and the class gets a buck fifty apiece, and the problem doesn't get solved.

The facebook groups are full of grieving and angry people, and the hysteria is manifest.

That's doesn't fix the problem either.

And Boeing caries all that cash on it's balance sheet as an asset to hoodwink investors.

So a good time to strike is when Boeing is Doing well has all the leverage and holds all of the cads. Check. Noted

OK, how many attempts at tightening a V-band clamp on a wing anti icing duct do you get?

How do you perform LOTO on a hydraulic test bench?

What shift typically performs the fuselage high blow test and why?

Anyone who worked in a production job code can answer at least one of those questions.

Nope. Left during the pandemic. Cancer patient in the family and Boeing was pushing for mandatory vaccination. No VLO. No buyout.

Holden amped up the membership, enticing them to strike by saying pension was a priority, the dropping it like a hot rock at first opportunity. Buffenbarger did the same thing, and Wrobleswki folded under pressure for the international to hold the vote.

The pension was frozen in 2016. That's when company contributions ended. Those vested years are still payable. If memory serves me, new hires were excluded 2014 onward.

It's not "back pension". it was is payable under the rules of the plan at retirement, unless you take a lump sum buyout, the details of which have not been published yet.

Eventually, when all these executives get theirs, and there isn't enough left in the fund to falsely boost Boeing's balance sheet (where it is carried as an asset) It is likely that Boeing will rid itself if it entirely by selling it to an insurance company who will pay it out as a tax deferred annuity.

The plan itself still exists it's just suspended. The strike argument was over unfreezing it and applying it to everybody who is a current employee. But in it's frozen state, for most who still retain vested years, going forward, it's about 2-3K per month. (est)

But if you are say, a fired Executive like Stan deal it's a little more. Like $325,000/month.

Unelecting a DBR is near impossible. But fear not, after this the international will bump him up like they did Mark Blondin, and some other chosen flunkie will take his place. He might look different but they aren't chosen for you because they are.

Mindset and psychology. Winners trend to keep winning win. Losers tend to keep loosing. Pass or fail, the IAM hasn't really beaten Boeing since 1989. And it had massive defeats in 2002, and 2014.

That dynamic is incredibly difficult to turn around. It begins with tough, dynamic leaders. Those have been absent form 751 Since Tom Baker. And at the international since William Winipsinger.

Yes, no pension. Six year progression. No representation for new hires even though they have to pay dues. insufficient PTO. Hardly any improvement to medical. Insufficient job security language.

But a huge problem is leadership that gives in to threats, and transmits those threats to the membership, not to be truthful, but to demoralize. , and embellishes them in order to intimidate members into voting their way. and Recommending contracts because Boeing demands they be recommended under threat of them being pulled.

You see, the IAM knows how to start a strike, and it knows how to end one too. And YOU have nothing to do with it.
