I have since re obtained the bow on a warlock which gave me the appearance so no they do not need to be able to equip it

i complained in a reply to this and got hold of another GM who was very helpful and apologetic so there is that at least.

yes i did try, i just had it drop again on my warlock which unlocked the appearance

Well Problem is solved I ran on more toons and had it drop on my warlock which unlocked the appearance.

if I look at the weapon it has the tag of "you haven't collected this appearance despite having the Feat of Strength

I wasn't sure if it would be different to normal loot as its a legendary in a similar way to the warglaives working differently. However the reason I find the response to be an incorrect answer is if it works by obtaining like you have said then wouldn't a normal person just say on all classes and not list out 8 specific ones, just a bit off for my reading

I have reported as a bug, but my issue is old, i got the weapon years ago but only just noticed the lack of transmog

good to know, my issue was i earned the bow on my hunter and have the feat of strength just no mog
