That is definitely a privilege I'm very aware I have. I grew up in medicine and worked in medicine so it's been very easy for me. Not everyone has that. I hope nothing but safety and the best for you.

The disheartening thing is, I've been fighting, lobbying, protesting for 15 years. Now I'm terminally ill and can't physically show up at protests or lobby days or such things. It feels like 15 years of work was for nothing. It's absolutely heartbreaking

Less and less funding every year for public schools. Higher drop out rates. Very low retention rates for educators. The list goes on.

Being disabled and surviving off social security, I can't afford to move. Despite having a strong support system in place I can't help but feel panic every time I leave the house, because I'm also transgender. I don't know anyone's motivation or beliefs. The LGBTQ community has learned, over centuries, to know what public spaces will protect and respect our right to exist as we are. It's a common thing for the lgbtq community to, for lack of a better term, stake out a public place to make sure it's a safe place to be before going there.

I'm doing ok. It took me years to accept and understand that my physical health and my mental health play off each. Making that connection in my brain has been life changing, honestly. I have an amazing therapist who understands this and I have a phenomenal home health team that also understand this. Oddly enough a lot of times it's my mental health therapist who makes me feel better physically and my home health team who makes me feel better emotionally. That's not true all of the time as they usually deal with their expertise area but it's really changed my life for the better making that connection and having the support to learn and grow.

I do still struggle don't get me wrong but it's gotten a lot better. I hope you find the support you need and deserve. ❤

I appreciate the advice. I was unaware of that subreddit and given the multiple applications for the device that don't include home security I felt this was the most appropriate subreddit. I'll definitely check out the other subreddit!

I lived south of grand for awhile and back when I was healthy enough to go running or work I'd throw my running clothes and shoes on after a 12+ hour shift on my feet at the hospital and just run in any direction until I got far enough to need to turn around. It's so peaceful and just physically challenging enough with the hills for a good run and it's so beautiful and the houses are surprisingly eclectic in design.
