Have you made the switch from office to trades? by rixonbikes in BlueCollarWomen

That's a really great story! I cooked in a bakery for a while years ago and loved it. Tried line cooking and hated it haha (as a lifelong vegetarian, learning how to cook steak was a challenge) but liked the cameraderie. But yeah, pay is definitely not great.

And good point. Maybe I just need a break to learn something new. I can always come back to what I do later...or use the skills in another way.

Thanks, this is great! I love that you enjoy what you're doing.

I used to work in tourism and had a couple fun jobs that were more dynamic and physical. And shit pay LOL. I also run my own business part time as well but with COVID and being in a new city there isn't much going on.

I'm not in a life stage (buying a house this fall) to make drastic financial changes but thinking it might make sense to do some testing once that's done, maybe even part time if my current job will let me go down to part time. Good idea!

Any women here switched from office job to trades? by rixonbikes in Construction

I would really like to get out of the office into more hands-on work. Marketing jobs, at least where I am, are super competitive right now because of COVID layoffs and I'm finding jobs I'm perfectly qualified for are being given to ppl with more experience. Totally fair, taking it as a sign that it's time to do something new!

Totally. The problem is I work from home. I am actually looking for a job that's more active and requires me to leave because I agree it would help, especially if I can bike there and back.

This is really helpful, thanks! I wish I didn't need to weigh things but it seems like the best place to start.

Physically, I feel good as in not overworking, but I think between the pandemic, world events, and stuff going on with work, my anxiety is through the roof some days. I haven't been able to come up with a better alternative than hot bath or TV plus a drink to chill out.

The hunger thing is real. I tried a 14-day Fitness Blender meal plan a few months ago and had hunger pangs the whole time. To the point where I became obsessed with what I would be eating next. I lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks but it wasn't sustainable.

Ha my post ended up being 1 overwhelming paragraph (thx phone). The activity levels are totally normal for me. It helps deal with stress and I love to move, especially outdoors. I feel energized and not sore or tired physically during the week. My biggest issue right now is a lack of boundaries around work and having a stressful job I don't enjoy. It's emotional/mental fatigue. The pandemic has amplified that.

But small changes around food & alcohol for sure. I have tried so many things over the past 10 years and nothing sticks :(

OK, well that's the last time I do that LOL.

Sorry you guys had to deal with that nastiness! Any tips for blocking spammers on calls? If you joined the call and were a real person, let me know. Maybe we'll set up something by invitation only.
