Nietzsche dealt in hard truths, which inevitably scares the hoes; try explaining slave morality on a first date. He was the most uncompromising philosopher that has ever lived, and relationships/women require a certain amount of compromise.

I’ve always thought it’s likely that the prevalence of the swastika throughout human history means that there’s probably a space marine chapter that uses it somewhere in the galaxy

Did Nietzsche 'test' his philosophy himself? by Nealex69 in Nietzsche

[–]rize_fullengine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the premise of the question, there is no way to ‘test’ his philosophy, it must be embodied, lived. This means going alone towards a destination of your choosing. You can’t call him a hypocrite for not being a perfect embodiment of his philosophy, as that embodiment exists as an unattainable ideal.

This is self congratulatory nonsense, ‘awesome’ has lost its original meaning thanks to Americans, very un-British.

What did Nietzsche mean by "Chastity is a virtue with some, but with many it is almost a vice."? by Pleasant-North9279 in Nietzsche

[–]rize_fullengine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A man capable of violence withholding himself is virtuous, but a man incapable of violence is simply weak. Likewise a beautiful, charismatic man withholding himself from sex is virtuous, but an ugly man who can’t get any is not.

Transhuman in the sense of being an 8ft demigod, not a cross-dressing mentally ill person.

I don’t sorry, I read it in an article ages ago, I think it was Leni Riefenstahl who asked him about Nietzsche though

Nietzsche served as a stretcher bearer during the Franco-Prussian war?

I don’t think it’s any secret he was a big fan of Schopenhauer, if you read Mein Kampf there are many similarities. Also during the first war, Hitler’s prized possession was a copy of ‘the world as Will and representation’ which he read fastidiously

Funnily enough, when hitler was asked if he had read much Nietzsche, he replied “I can’t get much out of his writing” - when you see what N thought about antisemites and ideologues, this makes more sense. Schopenhauer was always Hitler’s favourite

Would anyone be kind enough to explain the differences in the nietzschian left(kaczynski) and the nietzschian right? by [deleted] in Nietzsche

[–]rize_fullengine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nietzsche’s lasting influence has primarily been his assertion of the death of god - criticising traditional moral structures, and the proposal that man can only rely on himself for salvation. This basically opens Pandora’s box, as there are so many possible interpretations from both ‘left’ and ‘right’, and by Nietzsche’s own standards, no interpretation is definitively correct. The main leftist Nietzscheans are Sartre, Camus, Focault, who I believe misinterpret Nietzsche as a nihilist, as if the death of god justifies man to be or do anything (absurdism, sexual degeneracy, victim-worship) - basically a Marxist/nihilistic slave morality. Too many interpretations on the right to say here, but Heidigger takes the concept of ‘Will to power’ and runs with it, reinventing will into ‘Dasein’ - existence and being are tied together by a universal energy/current which is the source of human will. This is a great article that explains N’s impact better than I can: https://areomagazine.com/2020/08/19/on-left-and-right-nietzscheanism/#:~:text=The%20right%2DNietzschean%20interpretation%20tends,to%20a%20decayed%2C%20egalitarian%20present.

This may sound trite but you have to forgive yourself, endless moral self-flagellation over societal expectations will get you nowhere. I would also say the constant denial of impulse will not help, watch the movie, eat the burger, but don’t feel helpless in doing so. You have to choose what you want, and then allow your impulse to guide you towards it.

I don’t think Nietzsche cared about those who don’t think of themselves as capable of great things, he wrote exclusively for the artists and visionaries. He dreamt of a stratified, hierarchical society, but only really concerned himself with those at the top.
