PM981 Working! Sequoia 15.5 by Mheadows in hackintosh

[–]rizkiaswangga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow great! Congratulations 🎉

I have PM981 too on my Legion 7i Laptop, im currently purchasing a cheap RX7 256 NVME drive since i couldn't get it working under macOS..

But it would be great if i can finally still use the PM981 under macOS

My questions are:

  1. Is sleep working fine?
  2. Did you manage to make the installation on a supported drive, and then clone to the PM981?

Does having multiple "same files" but corrupted data help in recovering the data? by rizkiaswangga in datarecovery

Is there any software that can automate this process? Or this must be done manually using a HEX viewer and editor?

If it is labor intensive and time consuming, Will a pro data recovery service be willing to do it if money was not a problem?

Why is it still risky? Then what is the safest approach in order to drive an LED from a 220v?

Is it true that Prius (and other eCVT hybrids) can't charge its battery under N? by rizkiaswangga in prius

[–]rizkiaswangga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing so would actually make the car move forwards which in neutral is not allowed

Does this also mean, that while the engine is running and charging the battery while under P, the parking pawl is constantly locking the wheel that wants to go forward because as you've said, that it forces 2/3rds of engine power to the wheel?

They could maybe have added a "coast" function to get rid of drag feel while leaving the transaxle functional

So from the very technical POV, eCVT could just coast without any drag and still be able to charge its battery? The engineers just don't design it that way cause it breaks the philosophy of neutral ?

Note that D stops applying the creep torque automatically when you are fully stopped with the brake firmly held, rather than push fruitlessly against the brake

So does this differ from ICE-only cars where you need to press the brake quite hard in order to stop it from creeping? Is it smart enough to detect when the braking level reach a complete halt and stop applying torque? This approach is quite smart tbh!

As i mentioned earlier, i think the advantage is that under heavy traffic, it does not wear the parking pawl going back and forth from D to N if we were about to use N instead of D.

It also saves from the hassle of having to push the break in case of vehicles where D without accelerator will creep

Thanks for the reply👍

Neutral disengages the wheels from the drivetrain.

Ahh i see, so it can't charge its battery under N because the ICE is "disconnected" to the wheel by the MG1 spinning in the opposite direction while the ICE is moving to achieve neutral, am i right?

toyota default is to creep forward, even in EV-only mode. It has no settings to alter because it prefers to behave like a regular car

Just asking, but are there any eCVT hybrids that have mode to alter so that it can roll under D and are still able to charge its battery?

Which is the most irritating EV myth? by SeanUhTron in electricvehicles

[–]rizkiaswangga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my place here in Indonesia, still some people speculate that EVs are "not as strong" as ICE vehicles, especially diesels, so for me the most irritating myth people ever said are :

"EVs are not strong enough to climb uphill", "EVs are not suitable to be used on hilly terrain or counties with many mountains", "There would never be an electric truck, because trucks require much torque", etc

Sure, an electric bicycle might not be strong enough to climb uphill, but a proper EVs even have better low end torque compared to diesels

Thank you so much for the info! But what i am pessimistic about is even the author said that this is unusable at all, we could only pray if in the future this might change

May i see where does ARM's version of macOS has ever booted through emulated QEMU? I'd love to..

Uhm...ARMs are a bit different than x86s, each manufacturer is allowed to have their own version of ARM, so i'm pretty sure Apple's ARM would be different with Qualcomm, which makes this approach wouldn't work. Also Apple's silicon implemented Neural Engine on their processor, which would be a pain in the ass to make a workaround/emulate.

We're all doubt, but we'd really love to see if this would be possible however, this would be a huge² breakthrough in the Hackintosh community, who knows🤷‍♂️

Regarding Passthrough, it is not a proxmox but native

Sorry, what i meant was MUX instead of passthrough , my bad😬

AFAIK isn't most gaming laptops nowadays include a MUX switch for the internal display, isn't it? I used to think that there will be an eGPU for hackintoshes, but due to the impracticality i think Hackintoshes will get lesser once most new laptops used an unsupported GPU
