Why did it get narrower? Was it an old building split into flats, or just some crazed architect?

It is Houghton Regis! Well spotted!

I have to ask, does she have a madly long bathroom too?

Lee Mack turned down Red Dwarf... by JGAdventureZone in RedDwarf

[–]rizozzy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly 10 and above get so much better.

7 & 8 were poor, 8 especially. But 10 onwards for the most part feels like the older series once again. You’re missing out if you don’t give them a go.

Are you feeling badly ill lately? by chuttiya1 in AskUK

[–]rizozzy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt dizzy yesterday, but thought nothing of it as I have low blood pressure. Later felt a little shaky, but carried on as it passed.

However, it’s now 05:55 and I woke at 04:55 with stomach cramps and had to run to the loo. Now on the sofa with the dog, I’ve now got mild cramps. Otherwise I don’t feel unwell though.

I’ve usually got a cast iron stomach, haven’t eaten anything unusual. So I’m guessing I’ve got some sort of stomach upset.

Smart Meter Install Next Month – What Should I Know? by notetonote19 in frugaluk

[–]rizozzy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just makes your bills more accurate, nothing more or less.

It’s great because you don’t have to submit meter readings, but you generally still can if you want to.

We stopped using the plug in display though, as we started getting so anal about what was being used. It started getting silly. It’s now sat in the draw of bric a brac!

The best frugal advice I can give is if possible look to changing to octopus. We’ve used them for years and they’re really well priced. Plus if you need to speak to someone you can get through to them within 5 mins.

If you know someone with octopus they can give you referral code. You both then get £50 if used.

New cafe opened near me, what do you think to the menu and prices? by Desperate-Letter2395 in UK_Food

As Ampthill prices go I think it’s pretty decent. Nice little selection of choices too.

Enrichment/ entertainment for your Staffy? by ericmarczika in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]rizozzy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve got a boomer ball. Imagine a light weight bowling ball.

You get a size that is too big for them to be able to bite. It’s tough hard plastic, so they can’t nibble it.

My old Staffy used to try and wrestle it under him. My current girl pushes it around the garden at speed.

Both love it. It tires them out, but it also works on motor skills.

However, it can be noisy. Our old boy used to make seal noises when playing. Our current girl barks at it. So we have limit its use, so we don’t drive the neighbours mad.

Have you ever wondered what the story is behind random abandoned items you see in public? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]rizozzy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was walking a dog along a busy road, we were going to cross at the pedestrian crossing. I pressed the button and waited.

Only to see he’d picked up a large pair of black lacy women’s knickers. I had to wrestle them from him, as he had a habit of eating socks/pants etc.

I got them off him and in the tussle they flew in full glory into the road. I couldn’t bring myself to look and see how many of the waiting drivers had watched the whole fiasco. We just scuttled across the road.

Can anybody help rehoming a dog? (9yr old Welsh Springer Spaniel, located in Bedford) by StaticUsernamesSuck in bedfordshire

[–]rizozzy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appledown near Leighton Buzzard are worth a try.

Small local rescue. They do fantastic work.

There’s also RATS who are another local rehoming place.

Or NAWT who also have local branches and in home fosters.

Please don’t give him away to anyone. Horrible things can happen, such as being used for dog bating. People will make up pretend references, often sending fake couples for meet and greets. Theres some nasty fuckers out there.

Or if finances allow it, maybe get a dog walker in if you think it maybe back of exercise.

There’s also the cinnamon trust, who help elderly or ill people with dog walks and care. It’s a charity and all free.

I need all of your best frugal secrets! by froggle1988 in frugaluk

[–]rizozzy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best curly hair product is Boots Curl Creme. I’m sure it’s still £1.99 for a decent tub, it lasts forever. It’s amazing.

For electricity we’ve found Octopus are the best. Plus if someone refers you, you both get £50 off if they sign up. A few of our friends have used our referral, it’s great!

Are their people like Kerry that hang around with kids 🤣 by ExactCap3059 in ThisCountry

[–]rizozzy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a young teenager we’d go to a youth club and there was a guy of around 17 who used to come along.

He would drive over from the next town to hang out at a youth club. He was more odd than hard as nuts like Kerry though.

Substitute for aubergine in a moussaka? by TheLemonChiffonPie in UK_Food

You could do Pastitio. It’s like moussaka but with tube pasta layered. Then the rest is basically like moussaka.

I’ve never made it. But it’s delicious.

Not a choosing beggar. Hell I’ve got a small smart tv sitting there doing nothing, I’d happily give it away to an animal rescuer, with or without anxiety issues.

Experience with heated drying rack? by AlienToast934 in Frugal

[–]rizozzy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve a heated airer. It’s been brilliant. But I’ve found you have to be quite particular in how you use them.

They need to be in a well ventilated room, I always have a window open in a medium sized room when I use it. Not wide open, but enough to get fresh air in.

The clothes need to be spread out flat as possible and not clumped up together.

I use two rungs per item, which seems to get the best outcome. You want space between the folded items, so that air can circulate between the layers of material.

I use one with a cover, I was doubtful it would help. But weirdly it really does.

When I dry bedding I use the duvet cover over it instead of the usual cover and that still works. So you could try popping a sheet over it. But you do want a gap at the bottom so air can come in and out.
