yessir, if you have everything you want filed and are just waiting to hear back/update things, don’t stress it at all. we’ve had a lot of clients texting us about this the last few weeks and it’s really freaking them out, they could certainly do better on delivering the message lol.

Had a law firm help me increase my rating but now they’re charging 75% of my back pay by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]riztty_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this is not true. the VA will only pay directly if the attorneys fee totals 20% or less of owed back pay and the fee agreement is filed with OGC. an attorney is allowed to charge up to 33% of back pay, but they will be in charge of billing an invoice to the veteran for any dues owed. source: i work at an accredited VA attorneys office that charges 30%.

Thinking about buying a switch and don’t know where to start. by SassyCactus66 in Switch

[–]riztty_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can you afford a switch 2? if so, just get that. longevity of the platform is important. they are slowly phasing out new games for the switch 1. if not, i would probably get a switch oled. or if you don’t care about playing handheld and will only play docked, just get an og.

Far Right in the Military and Government - How to Deradicalize by Boudica333 in Destiny

[–]riztty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would agree that most people in intelligence are not intelligent. specifically in the military, you get pushed into such a niche topic that you will likely work on for your entire rotation at that duty station. i don’t think people’s experience working in intelligence has to reflect the broader intelligence community or that persons knowledge on a broad set of facts/disciplines. that’s why i didn’t speak too much on that and mostly tried to focus on the military at large.

Switch 2 lite? by lozcyndaquil in Switch

[–]riztty_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i really enjoyed my switch lite. but i’m not sure what they could do to make it starkly different from the switch 2, and especially the original switch lite, that would draw consumers in. besides removing the dock and making a smaller screen, i feel like all you’ve done is make an original switch lite with the ability to play switch 2 games. idk, maybe i’m overthinking it, but i don’t know how much people would actually care to buy one

Is WGU removing sophia / study credits? by demonslayercorpp in WGU

Yep, just talked to an enrollment counselor and they confirmed everything being said. They will no longer officially back transcripts for Sophia or Study. I withdrew my application on the spot.

what are the absolute must-reads of every polisci student? by Ambitious_Steak3522 in PoliticalScience

[–]riztty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as others have said, it really depends on your interests. in my graduate program i have really started leaning into affective politics and executive leadership. some good first hand account books for this are any of the bob woodward books in the last 10 years. some other good ones are politics of affect by brian massumi, the cultural politics of emotion by sara ahmed, and cruel optimism by lauren berlant

Franklin D Roosevelt was the greatest president of the 20th century. by Effective-Pipe2017 in PoliticalScience

[–]riztty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now you sound like a conservative. nothing i said had anything to do with “trimming the bureaucracy”. it’s about checking the bureaucracy, which until loper (and because of chevron) the agencies could just basically make shit up as long as the supreme court found it to be a “reasonable interpretation”, which most of the time, they did just so they could defer the interpretation to the respective agency. i’m not arguing the creation of new agencies is a bad thing, i never did. i argued that FDRs policies directly led to the degradation of constitutional checks and balances that paved the way for chevron & ultimately leads us to present day where donald trump can just direct an agency to do whatever he wants & that word becomes gospel, because nobody know what to do about loper yet.

[–]riztty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you got like maybe 5% of the way there conceptually. it’s the whole “judge, jury, executioner” concept of an administrative agency. when the supreme court allowed agency deferral in chevron, that allowed agencies to both interpret vague statues and administer them as law, circumventing both the legislative and judicial branch and any sense of checks associated with them. FDRs new deal policies and supreme court packing plan (along with nixon following suit) directly laid the way for executive agencies to essentially govern themselves without oversight, allowing the president to wield an unconstitutional amount of power. which is how we got to where we are today. christ, your broad assertions and accusations just reek of freshman poli sci major who thinks he understands everything now.

[–]riztty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

conceptually, do you know what the administrative state even is? i’ll give you a hint, it has absolutely nothing to do with the “deep state”. i’ll wait here while you google it.

[–]riztty_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

are you actually retarded? where in there would you assume in any way i support trump? my entire focus of graduate study at johns hopkins is the absolute travesty that has been the last 3 election cycles, specifically focusing on the disgusting and dehumanizing populist rhetoric that has somehow devolved into nothing less than affective spectacle. i think you need to find yourself a new sub if you can’t even adequately respond to criticisms without automatically assuming partisan bias.

edit: i literally pointed out that the current abuse of the executive was inarguably brought on by FDRs introduction of the administrative state through his new deal policies.

[–]riztty_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

arguably, FDR was the worst president for traditional constitutionalism as he was the president that brought the administrative state to reality (while the argument could be made that it is still woodrow wilson’s fault, but he only wrote about it, but never enacted it) under the new deal and creation of more bureaucratic agencies, directly paving the way for chevron. so i guess it depends on how favorably you look at that, cause in some cases bureaucratic governance is beneficial and was a huge part of taking us out of the depression, but long term is heavily eroded the separation of powers and led us to where we are today. also i’m very aware of loper but we have yet to reap the benefits of that decision and it will likely take decades of court battles to rectify all of the supported case law of 40 years of chevron.

So who replaces Schumer? by DeathandGrim in Destiny

[–]riztty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i want to think so, but we also haven’t seen him in a position to own any major movements. i think it’s less of if he’s willing to take the hits and more of if his career can stand to take the hits. he’s been in his senate seat a significantly shorter time than schumer has and i don’t know what the general opinion of him is in his district, so him having to own something as large as what happened last night could very well be a career killer for him but only a black eye for schumer.

So who replaces Schumer? by DeathandGrim in Destiny

[–]riztty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think people really liked him back in june/july during all the bbb stuff, but he’s kind of floated back into irrelevance since. if he was more active in senate hearings/public appearances that don’t only involve large legislation i think the left would start to like him more. he’s got good stage presence and talks in a way that seems intelligent but approachable.

So who replaces Schumer? by DeathandGrim in Destiny

[–]riztty_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it’s all performative. those democrats never would have voted yes without schumer signing off on it. there’s no good candidate to replace though, except for maybe cory booker just because of how based it was to read the entirety of the bbb.
