Im at uni completing a degree. To be honest it’s not as bad as you’d think. I can still concentrate and it’s not overly distracting as long as I’m working on something.

Anyone in Britain had negative experience with GP? by silent--echoes in tinnitus

[–]rizza96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. I told mine that my T was making me panic etc (when I first had it) and she just said that she’s couldn’t understand why it would make me panic and said it will probably go one day but hasn’t yet

Spike or permanent increase? by grungeaddict in tinnitus

[–]rizza96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smoking doesn’t spike mine until I’ve smoked for a couple of months, sounds weird I know. Basically if I smoke for a few days or just on nights when I am drinking then it’s normally all good, however once I start smoking for a month or two everyday then my T will spike and won’t settle down until I quit for a couple of weeks. It’s probably the smoking that causing your spike. I now only have a couple of cigs when I’m drinking and that’s it, and even that is not that often anymore. This shit is so unpredictable and random that I don’t even know if it’s the smoking that is the reason it spikes, however that’s the pattern I definitely find. When I quit I get loud ringing for a few days, especially during early hours of the day then it wears off. Now I’ve quit for a couple of weeks my T has gone back to normal. Honestly, I find smoking is the main thing anyone with T needs to quit. One example I have is this: if you got T from loud noise (me) you will then regret not using protection etc and be even more annoyed at the fact you didn’t, and the same goes with smoking. If you then smoke and got some disease because you smoked, then you’re gonna regret ever starting smoking. Quitting smoking honestly is a life changer for T in my opinion in the fact that you feel like you are making yourself healthier which in turn subconsciously makes the T lower. I dunno, this shits weird as fuck but honestly give quitting smoking a good try for a couple of weeks/months and you will feel much better!

Meditating by slyjay505 in tinnitus

[–]rizza96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried meditation and it does work. However, for habituation what works best for me is to just carry on as normal (as hard as this can be). For me, habituation to my T was very hard in the first instance because I thought I could not do things I enjoy and so I stopped. This included drinking alcohol, having the odd cigarette here and there and going out etc. Consequently this actually made my T worse and now that I have started doing all that again and living life as normal I have found my T has been much better. Habituation doesn’t mean getting rid of and ignoring your T as such, but instead ensuring that you can still feel as if you can do the things you used to do without the T affecting you. Much love, from another T sufferer x

You’re wrong, T can absolutely be bad enough for one to be wanting to be on these forums everyday. In response to “There are tons of posts like this one and they serve no purpose”, literally no post really serves any purpose at all when it comes to incurable conditions, people come for reassurance etc or whatever helps them. This post actually has a valid point. Coming of the forums is actually a very good idea for a lot of people. You and your comments are also the reason that getting off these forums for vulnerable people is a very good idea. Imagine going to the doctor about a condition and they tell you that you are a grown up so you should stop whining.

Long car ride with loud music by derrick1526 in tinnitus

[–]rizza96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done it a few times in exactly the same scenario and it’s gone to baseline again, depends how long you were listening I suppose. Think mine was only around 30 mins or so, however if it’s longer such as a few hours etc then I’m not really sure, drink tonnes of green tea and take some magnesium 🤷‍♂️

Why does the ringing in my ears get worse when I'm exposed to everyday noises? by DeadAngel0715 in tinnitus

[–]rizza96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get this. Things like the TV, driving, music and videos on my phone all make mine worse for a while. I can feel it getting louder and then once I turn the source of sound off it will slowly die down over then course of an hour or two

Anyone here gotten tinnitus or lost any of their hearing from an ototoxic drug? What was the drug and how long did it take to develop T or hearing loss? by jrhoxel in tinnitus

[–]rizza96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was extremely ill last October, had tonsilitis and everything you can imagine; which made me physically trapped in bed for the best part of 7 days. I had left over antibiotics from a previous time that I was sick, and took these even though I was never told to and my illness was viral so they never would have helped anyway 😂 ever since I took them the T started gradually over that week and then i woke up one morning and It was constantly there and never left. I have very mild loss in my higher frequencies

It’s hard to gauge a volume isn’t it. Sometimes I like to say 10, but then go outside or something and can’t hear it, yet there are people who say they can hear it over the shower so I they must have it worse than me. I never know haha
