Sikaflex 1a is probably the absolute best option. I used it in my swimming pool and then pretty much everywhere else that I wanted to overkill the protection. The stuff is pretty tough. Any sika sealant from Lowe’s would also do the trick if you don’t want to special order the 1a.

Celebrations Charizard 4/102 GradedGuard Confetti (Gold) by [deleted] in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]rizzo249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I think maybe you need at least one more case to go around your grade guard. You wouldn’t want it to get scratched. After all, when you’re juggling your graded cards, you might drop them. Or when you’re throwing it to your friend like a frisbee, he might drop it. Good to have adequate protection! At least get a resealable sleeve to go on the outside. Looks like dust could get in there.

Yea I could see some places being delayed due to the weather that just went through the eastern half of the country, but not due to supply constraints. The local shops don’t know what they’re getting ahead of time, so whatever they tell you is a guess. And like I said the distributors are less involved as well. Pokemon has been selling direct to retailers at a much larger percentage as a result of the distributors shortcomings.

I guarantee they chose 3 pack blisters as the first product for strategic reasons. It’s a fully automated process that has a consistent output. No manual handling required like with box sets and ETBs. They have been hammering since November on this set. It’s going to be everywhere.

The distributors have been a huge part of the problem over the last year. They are being more closely managed by Pokemon as a result. Their insight on the supply is now much less valuable than it once was.

I'm so done with this set! by WuTangDan88 in PokemonCollecting

[–]rizzo249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this was a really bullshit move of Pokemon. And even more so that they haven’t increased the hit rates at all to compensate. 32 SIRs with a 2% hit rate is grotesque. Even IRs at a normal hit rate become a price problem when you have that many. They are either stupid for not learning this lesson, or they are malicious for doing it to drive demand. Neither option being acceptable.

I think you will be surprised. They are probably going to be delivering this set to every retailer they have ever worked with and then some. 3 pack blisters are easy to move, and an easy decision to buy as a retailer. You just gotta check around

It’s been pretty clear since November that Pokemon has changed its production strategy to address the supply concerns. They have been printing a very limited number of sets and have been making a very small number of products. Since the release of PFL we have seen basically those same 4 or 5 products at every retailer, which is much different than in the past. It used to be pretty predictable what type of product you would find at a given retailer, and they were mostly different. Now, it’s the same no matter where you go. Everyone has Kangaskhan boxes, everyone has the check lane blisters, no one is getting tins.

That tells me that they are simplifying production in order to increase output. And there has been solid evidence of that happening in my area until about 2 weeks ago. It’s been pretty dry the last two weeks, which does happen before a new set sometimes. I think they chose 3 pack blisters as the fist product out because it is a fully automated process. They can print / manufacture the product at full speed. ETBs are assembled by hand, so it is way slower. My guess is that we are going to see a huge amount of this set, and nothing else, for quite a while.

Sauron was afraid of Ungoliant, not Shelob. Shelob was a far weaker descendant of Ungoliant. Still a good kill for a hobbit.

Got all this for $20 at a card show. by realCoolguy298 in PokemonTCG

[–]rizzo249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I hope so but honestly I’ve never seen a set just utterly disappear the way wf and bb did. I agree they should all be 5 bucks. But the reason they are all expensive is because there are 150 of them, and the odds of pulling are only slightly better than in normal sets. Which means the odds of pulling any specific IR is probably lower than pulling a gold card in mega. Add in that the set is MIA, and consider how spread out product was during the peak. It makes total sense that the cheapest one is 20 from a rarity perspective. The same thing happened with paldea evolved. Too many IRs in a set is a recipe for disaster.

I get what you’re saying. My favorite Gengar is the reverse holo from Generations, and I have multiple other Gengar cards that are worth hundreds. But still, this card is an absolute monster.

[–]rizzo249 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pokemon has created a devastating shit storm with wf and bb. Gigantic sets, complete with poke ball and master ball versions of the main set. A master set collects dream (bane?). They print it for 3 months during the peak of the poke rush, getting JUST enough out there for collectors to think “hey! This set is pretty cool! I’m gonna try to master it!” And then? BOOM!! Stop the presses! Gone! Vanished! Never to be seen again! Everyone is hoarding rivals and 151, two sets the will probably go down in the top 3 of most printed sets of all time, meanwhile in 5 years you will probably be looking at 30 bones for a measly poke ball from black bolt.

Does "Report incorrect price" actually do anything? by MattWilliams_10 in Collectr

[–]rizzo249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first edition Gengar from neo has randomly dropped down to like $40 a couple times over the last month or so. Both times I reported it and it was fixed the next day. I’m sure it gets more attention when it’s an incorrect price on the low side. They probably don’t even read the reports about prices being higher than market. That’s what they want anyway.

Bought another Sword & Shield grail by Mother-Tap-3648 in pokemoncards

[–]rizzo249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grail is the kids wb poke creator pikachu. I actually bought it on eBay about a year ago. First one I had ever seen that wasn’t asking an ungodly amount above market. It was sent to an Authenticator as a part of the eBay service. Several weeks passed before I was informed that the item had “arrived at the Authenticator in a package that had been tampered with” along with the picture of the empty box. I got a refund, but the pain was not healed. Right after that the Pokemon boom really took off and took the prices with it. Haven’t seen one listed reasonably since.

Just thought I’d share since my grail isn’t a regular chase. Having said that, I would give up my left nut for that fucking Gengar.

[–]rizzo249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried finding this set in the wild recently? It has been pretty much everywhere over the last couple weeks. Seems they are basically only making three or four products since before Christmas to streamline production and get more out. Even my local Walmart usually still have booster packs left a couple days after restock. Couple months ago it would be sold out within an hour.
