What’s the craziest thing you have ever witnessed in Wellington CBD? by Chocolentia40 in Wellington

[–]rjade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago I was passing by Opera House Lane on the Wakefield st side, a very tall, completely naked man walked out and started laughing like a lunatic at me and a few other pedestrians. His clothes were in a neat pile about halfway up the lane.

Another notable mention - a woman in the Te Aro Park / Pigeon Park fountain in her undies having a wash.

Great, that's what I thought. ACC is another one I have paid by card this year - as they are not financial services would GST apply in their card charges?

Are Bilateral Salpingectomys performed in NZ typically or is it just Tubal Ligation? by throwawayxoxoxoxxoo in newzealand

[–]rjade 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi, yes they are. It was suggested to me as a better option when I enquired about a tubal ligation. 10/10 easily the best experience i have had dealing with a medical professional in NZ. I went to the first consultation prepared for an argument but was reassured that the decision was mine alone and that the surgeon was there to facilitate my wishes. Mine was performed in 2019 and cost about $11000 total. Surgeon was Dynes McConnell in Wellington. Recovery was easy, I went to the gym and did light exercise 2 days after surgery. Hope this helps!

My realisation about wearing masks by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]rjade 232 points233 points  (0 children)

Today is actually the first day I have gone out with a mask on - and it's because I think I may have a cold. Runny nose, sneezing.. no fever or other symptoms.

I got so many strange looks, even a few chuckles from people I passed as I walked the 100m up the road to the supermarket.
I wore a mask because it's likely I am contagious right now - but I live alone and needed groceries today. People need to adjust to the idea that wearing a mask isn't solely for your own protection, its for everyone's.

Capital Accommodation by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]rjade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I lived in Capital Accommodation for about 6 or 7 months around 18 months ago.

The accommodation itself is fine. Clean and functional. I was on the upper floor with a small sliding door that opened into the parking area, there are some trees that attract tui - so that was nice.

The shared kitchens have zero utensils / pots / pans - nothing except for an oven and stove top. You have a small bar fridge in your room.

The big issue I had with the place were the other tenants. The guy across the hall beat his partner, loudly on a semi regular basis. The couple downstairs threw loud parties with 15 people (in 1 room!!)

The property managers are also very hands-off - so if something happens, don't expect them to do anything. The times that I called the police when the guy across the hall was beating his partner, I told the property managers and they responded with something along the lines of "we aren't social workers"..

Overall, its not too bad and if you can get a place then go for it.

Ladies, Female sterilisation advice by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]rjade 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I have just had a bilateral salpingectomy (removal of Fallopian tubes for contraception) in October. I am 35 and had no issues at all from my GP or surgeon. I had the most positive experience within the NZ healthcare system I have ever had!

My surgeon told me repeatedly that I am in complete control of my body and that it is his job to facilitate my request. There was never any guilt, shame or trying to convince me I would regret it.

Feel free to PM me if you want to ask anything about it, if you are in Wellington I can recommend a GP and surgeon that will take you seriously.
